Umm, guys & girls... I read in one article a looong-loong time ago that he first went to one evening school type of school there.... and didn't particularly like it there and quit kinda, said it didn't make any sense to study there or smth. like that. But I still think he can read & write SOME Spanish & English but yeah, dunno how well. He kept studying in a Russian school then if I'm not totally wrong. *yeah, asking Ruth for help*

Ohhhhh, the pressure.... ;D hope I can help out here Ok, I know when he lived in Spain he did some evening classes, so I don't think that would be possible if he couldn't read or write Spanish He's fluent in Spanish, both written and spoken - I don't think he could live for so many years in Spain and not be 100% intergrated. As for English, that's a little bit more tricky, because he's not always honest about it For a long time, I had assumed Marat's written English (and his ability to read English) was poor, or at least, not as a good as his spoken English. This is simply because he always avoided reading/writing in English and often made excuses for it. In an Early ACE Magazine interview, he said 'I don't read anything in English because my English isn't good enough' and when he was at Liverpool, he went out of his way to avoid writing anything in English, again citing his 'bad english'. When I took the birthday book we all signed to Elite, I asked if he would be ok reading it, an they were really surprised by my question! They were like 'yeah, of course he will be fine - his english is great, he has no problem reading it.' So I guess Marat is either very self-concious about his English, or just likes lazy excuses OK, that was a bit of a waffle - hope I managed to answer your question ok, Noemi

I totally agree with the "hot" thing... The first time I saw him he was in an interview, and speaking in spanish... I remember seeing in the bottom of the tv "Marat Safin - Russian", and I was like "What?!" Almost died of instant love... hehehe You know? The first time I heard that interview about the favourite song, I was so distracted that couldn't distinguish his voice from the other man, and didn't understand what had happened. I mean, I knew he spoke fluently, but no so much!! It really amazed me , and it was a really pleasant surprise. And the speech after Madrid... oh, my!!! I was at work and everybody was looking at me, probably thinking: Why does she have such a stupid expression on her face?! Hahahaha!!! And almost every player of my country say that he's really nice, that speaks perfectly and is always joking around with them.
