Hey I'm french so perhaps I can help too Good Luck = Bonne chance (Edit: argh !!! I had written a really big post to answer to some other questions, but I got unlogged and the words just vanished . As I don't really remember what I wrote and I must go for now, I will just put really short answers, I'm sorry) For the riots, I think you're right, it's the fact we strongly try to conserve our culture that caused all these problems, 'cause it's really difficult to integrate in France. French people will expect you to know (or at least try to) everything about their country, culture and language before acknowledging you as one of them and that's a big problem. On another subject, "Can you talk a bit more slowly please" can be translated "Pouvez vous parler un peu plus doucement s'il vous plait" or "Peux tu parler un peu moins vite s'il te plait" if you know well the person. For the free admissions, I don't really know, I've been sightseeing only once in Paris, and I was younger. What I can tell you is that not everything is free, but for instance I remember that the "Arc de Triomphe" visit is free on sundays (even if you're 21, or even 88 if I remember well ) As for Merkel, I haven't really well followed the news recently so that I cannot tell you, but we have always had a big friendship with Germany since the second world war. Really sorry, I had better (or at least longer ) answers before, but perhaps someone else will be able to answer you far better than I !
