Saw today that the Iraqi soccer team won their first match. COnsidering what the team went through when Uday Hussein was in charge that brought a big smile to my face. Saw the team today in the parade of countries and they got a really big CHEER and the team looked, well everyone did, looked really happy and upbeat, i am really happy for them, I hope they do well in Athens

LOL! Girls. Just watching the replay of the Opening Ceremony at the moment, the real thing was on at 3.30am. I think the Iraquis so far have the biggest cheer. Apparently they did not even have a flight out of Bagdad until the last minute, and the flight out is actually pretty hair raising as the planes have to take evasive manouvres just in case there is a SAM waiting for them. Talk about a flight where you're too scared to get air sick. Even so the team made it out to Jordan in an Aussie Hercules and flew on to Athens far more sedately and looked so happy to be competing. Saw Nalbandian and Federer, who both looked really happy and excited, the Russians have not come out yet.

They only showed about 40 seconds, and no Marat. I saw somewhere that he was apparently near the women for anyone that has beeter footage than we Aussies got. Mostly our air time was taken up with Popov and a long shot, so no use to you.

Yeah, the commentators mentioned Andrew and Bettina as well - they are the only married couple competing against each other in the same discipline, blah blah blah. Drivel, really. Andrew and Bettina have been competing against each other for years. ;D
Must check the schedules here as I am rostered off on Monday.

Andrew's about 6' from memory - I never really took a lot of notice. At 5'3" it's only remarkable if I look straight at a bloke, mostly I always look upwards! LOL! He is really easy to spot - he's 45 and pretty bald. *grin* He's also always been a real sweetheart, too nice for his own good sometimes. Bettina's a lucky woman.
I saw the message, thank you. Rhydian is as mean, moody and magnificent as Marat, yes, and probably more stubborn. He could teach Marat a bit about consistency. With people Rhydian likes in his saddle he's a good worker. It would take all of Marat's intelligence to keep up with Rhydian - no room for hippo excuses. LOL!

Yay, Popov carried the Russian flag ;D I taped the Opening ceremony as I didn't want to stay up all night to watch it and I wasn't home to watch the re-run later on in the day...anyway, so I will watch it again and pause it every few seconds on the Russian team to see if I can catch a glimps of a tall, dark and handsome tennis player

sorry 2 lower the tone again...but, bought The Times yesterday n on the front page of one of the sections there was a picture of a GB male swimmers chest, nice pic btw girls, n the title thing was "sex n the olympics" im not gonna write the whole thing out cos it was sooo long but the general tone was the underlying reason we all watch the olymics is the erotic appeal of the athletes the article ended with this line....which i kinda liked.... "Ten thousand fresh, powerful, obedient bodies. Let the joy begin."

Nah, I watch Cirque du Soleil for really hot bods - some of those guys are not only awesome gymnasts and performers, their bodies are works of art.
I got bored with the swimming heats. Australia is fixated on the idea everyone loves swimming and if I see one more story on Jana Pitman I think I'm going to scream. You would think she is our only competitor.

Awww the ceremony was really nice. I liked the boy in that "paper boat" . BTW, I thought we all would see the same coverage but I guess most of us have seen something different in our TVs.
