I dont normally post blogs of what i do but since its tennis related i have to share my experiences. The US Open in front of my tv - Super Saturday ;DI spent my Saturday watch 14 hours of uninterrupted tennis live from Flushing Meadows - UK time of 4 in the afternoon till 6 in the morning and ive not enjoyed tennis like this in ages. Started of with Fedex and Hewitt- 2 war verterans and 2 players i admire dearly - nice way to start the day - a competitive game with meastro coming out in 4. Since were lucky to have 5 court coverage on tv i decided to switch to LA and see djokovic cruise through but boy was he in a tussle - a tense TB in the 3rd set and Witten never gave up home but class showed - a gutsy effort by both players. Back to Arthur Ashe and the american dream Melanie Oudin who took out my darling Lena comes from behind again and takes out Maria Sharapova - Amazing - crowd really behind and what an amazing week she has had.. I decide to go back to LA verdasco and Haas are fighting it our which went all the way to 5 when Tommy shouldve won in 3 - but good quality tennis. I decided i needed some down time for a bit so court 11 to watch Kolya - was very efficient and comfortable - going unnoticed our other guy from russia - can be dangerous nxt week. Down time over Back to AA - the all american battle and what i saw was brilliant a tense 5 set match and an outcome i never expected - Isner through over the A Rod - amazing match and to end in a TB. Surley that match couldnt been topped - Time for Dinara - and i must say before i talk about this i know the women are not as skillful and as powerful as the men but for me this match showed what is good about the womens game - how they bring emotion, determination and personality to the court - by far the best WTA match of the year IMO. AND WHAT A RESULT - Dinara losing in a 3rd set TB - quality of tennis at the end was amazing - serve being broken after each other- match points saved on both ends. Poor Zelko Krajan what he has been through this week!. But hats of to the Teenager Pitkova - what a performance girl! Last but not least seeing the end of James Blakes run at the US Open - poor guy had an ankle injury but was determined to fight it out and against Robredo - a nice way to end the evening. As for me i went to bed completely exhausted but thoroughly entertained.! oh and for the sake of it Marat Safin too! Q. Watching Safin heading to retirement, seems like he lost a little bit of fire for the game. After all these years for you, do you still feel like you have as much desire for the game as you had back in 2001 and years ago? LLEYTON HEWITT: Yeah, absolutely. If I didn't, then I'd be hanging out with Marat. (laughter.)

Saturday was a 'rerr night' for tennis as we'd say in Scotland. Thoroughly enjoyed so many of the matches. Shame that the wean lost in the tiebreak, and as for A-Rod ... Off to watch some more tennis now. Just for a change ... ;D Spent this afternoon playing with my potatoes (don't ask) and making jam from the endless plums I have been picking. I could set up my own farmers' market stall at this rate. FG PS Taylor Dent snapped one of his vertebrae because of his service action? Ouch.

Whoa, whats happening with all the woman's seeds at the USO? These are more like AO, first GS of the season, results PS Taylor Dent snapped one of his vertebrae because of his service action? Ouch. Ouch. It's a wonder he didn't pull a face muscle as well, with those faces he pulls when serving

Thank goodness for Kim Clijsters and Melanie Oudin, cause (most of) the rest of the women's field is Today's men match-ups were kinda 'eh' today too -- but tomorrow's should be better (and shame Taylor Dent had to run into Andy Murray, but the fact that he's back - with a healthy back ;D - and had a steller match against Navarro - is great to see ... and he's post-match victory lap was super sweet )

Now she's one who can stop Serena - there are no more top 5 WTA players left in the draw...now that Dina just lost to Kvitova....I was high in hopes for a Slam title and she just lost it. I do hope she can do it at the Aus Open next year! The USTA switched Dina and Kvitova match with Isner vs Roddick. They played Louis Armstrong and boy she is so pissed at them. I guess that took its toll on her match too, but I'm not saying it's the main reason, everyone knows Dinara breaks down... They had to make way for the men when they were first to get there at Centre court. And even Serena is not pleased. This is hilarious. Talk about inequality. Men still find themselves superior to women. Admittingly I watch more ATP than WTA but this is **** in purest form. On to the men. Djokovic brushed Steps off his shoulder quite easily. And he did an impersonation of Johnny Mac afterwards...with McEnroe comin' down from the commentator's booth! They exchanged some shots here and there... T'was a very nice night

www.tennis.comPerrotta’s U.S. Open Week 1 Report Card Head of the ClassMelanie Oudin: Who would have predicted that a feisty, fist-pumping 17-year-old from Georgia would take charge of the 2009 U.S. Open? And yes, that's Georgia, U.S.A., not the republic that borders Russia. Oudin is the youngest player to reach the U.S. Open quarterfinals since Serena Williams won it in 1999. Whiz KidFlavia Pennetta: The Italian lost just six games in her first three matches, then fought off six match points against No. 7 Vera Zvonareva to reach the quarterfinals. Most ImprovedJohn Isner: A fitting award for one of the few pro players who went to college. Isner had a hot start to his professional career a few years ago, but only this season has he begun to put in the work necessary to succeed on the tour. Better late than never. Prom KingTaylor Dent: The square-jawed American takes his place in Grandstand lore with a thrilling second-round win and a post-match party. Prom QueenKim Clijsters: Everyone's favorite Belgian is back. She’s already taken down Venus, but can she beat both Williams sisters en route to the title? Stood Up AgainAndy Roddick: Another five-set heartbreaker for the world No. 5. Late BloomerJesse Witten: Man who looks like a weekend softball hero enters U.S. Open qualifying, with a little advice from John McEnroe. He wins and wins and wins and suddenly, he's standing toe to toe with the No. 4 player in the world. Great to be Jesse Witten, wouldn't you say? A's…As UsualThe Big Three: Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal haven't faced much opposition so far. Neither has Serena Williams. Will Nadal's abdominal injury be a factor in the second week? Least Likely to Show at the Class ReunionMarat Safin: Safin's last match at the U.S. Open was a downer. Then again, this entire season has been a dismal one for Safin, who will retire in November. He's counting the days. Mad ProfessorZeljko Krajan: In Melbourne earlier this year, Krajan seemed to be just what Dinara Safina needed: An upbeat, patient, competent coach who could coax her out of bad moods and drive home key lessons in practice. Seven months later, Krajan looks to be the worst man for the job. As Safina misses, screams and struggles to hold serve, Krajan, seated in Safina's box, shakes his head, covers his face, shouts critical remarks, and even laughs ruefully. Safina can't be the easiest player to coach, but there must be someone who can take charge of her career without all the negative energy. Let's hope she finds that someone soon. Low ProfileJuan Martin del Potro: The giant Argentine could very well win this tournament—and he still hasn't played a match inside Arthur Ashe Stadium. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: This surface better suits Tsonga's game than the slower hard courts of Melbourne, where he reached the final in 2008. So far he hasn't lost a set. Lost My HomeworkDinara Safina: After a year of consistent results, Safina's game suddenly looks creaky. Are we about to witness the rapid decline of another No. 1 woman? U.S. Open schedulers: Last year, an unexpected five-setter starring Roger Federer pushed the day session into the night session. When a similar scenario occurred earlier this week with the Andy Roddick-John Isner five-setter, you would have thought it would make the USTA wary of inconveniencing night-session ticket-holders again. Wrong. And so Saturday evening's crowd had to wait three hours for their tennis and then choose between a men's match in Arthur Ashe and a women's match in Louis Armstrong. If I'm a night-session buyer, I'm pretty upset (conversely, Saturday's day session fans witnessed a phenomenal day of tennis). This shouldn't happen twice in a week when you have perfect weather and so many courts at your disposal; it’s too ambitious of the schedulers to slot two men’s matches and a women’s match for the day session. Elena Dementieva: A fine summer goes for naught as the Best Player to Never Win a Major retains her title.Repeat a GradeAna Ivanovic: Somewhere on the way down from No. 1 to journeywoman, Ana Ivanovic forgot how to serve. Is there a specialist in the house? Quotes of the WeekAfter Melanie Oudin defeated Maria Sharapova Saturday, she was asked to shower and arrive for her press conference at 6:00 p.m. "It's already 6:00 o'clock?" she said to her mother. "What time did I go on?" Further proof that there is no time, no space—nothing to stop you—when you're in the zone. Marat Safin on his retirement plans: "I'm ambitious. I want to achieve some things. I'm a different than another person who wants to lay back and do nothing for rest of the life and talk nonsense on ESPN, talk about my match against Sampras. I will not do that."

McBratty might be wielding his middle finger and flashing fangs at Marat for all I know. I hope for a brawl, Hopman Cup-style but armed with racquets to break. The first one who reaches 1000 wins. I guess Marat will win as Johnny is already 50 Racquet companies are to be surely driven to file for bankruptcy. ;D Somebody hold a contest.

I'm stunned by Andy's game plan tonight. He stayed back behind the baseline and waited for Cilic to make the error. It rarely arrived. Missed the start of the match - apparently there was something up with Andy's wrist. Oh dear ...
My old war cry appeared again tonight ... get in to the bloody net and take charge.
And relax ...

I thought Cilic was easy...something must have messed with Andy's head. Oh the shame. And he was winning in the US Open Series.... Bad luck.
