once again...thank you anik..........  and the interview fr the match against kiefer is up on the toronto site. but i shan't steal ME's livelihood so u can all go look for it yourself in the meantime... the latest marat quotable quote is his story about being a HIPPO  . why hippo though.... i've no idea... |

Anik told me that marat was nice with fans. He even takes a pic with a baby on his arms *The parents put the baby on his arms lol he was kind of surprised but did it* Oh Nelia thats so sweet, really made me feel better after the sadness of Marat's loss today, thanks |

Such a pity that Marat lost.He played very well in the first set.You know Kiefer played not so well in this match.He hit the ball into the net stupidly.
Anyway, did u see Ferrero and his girlfriend?They were laughing and kissing.They look cute together.And why did ferrero retire?He has a hurt back or ...?

I have one thing to say: SO MUCH FOR OUR OPTEMISM. Looks like tha man didn't have enough [match] practice before the tournament. This was totally predictable and was predicted. But I guess we should continue hoping for the best in the next tourney, huh? Oh this is just too f-king frustrating! GO MARAT  I realy hope that Marat stays in Toronto all weak and practice, play few sets with those top guys. |

 I've never liked football (soccer) but now I hate it even more  !!!!!! I couldn't see the whole match coz stupid Polsat Sport started broadcasting football!!!!!! But I saw the first set and this report is especially for Damita as I promised her to do it . So as Ruth said Marat was wearing black t-shirt, but he changed it after three games (unfortunately I haven't seen him doing this coz they were showing Kiefer   ). The match started from Kiefer's service, which he easily won and that worried me a little bit. Luckily Marat was serving good too so that made me feel better. At 1-2 Marat got broken, coz he made some small errors, but his game was risky so I wasn't surprised by that. He broke Kiefer back so everything was okay. I was getting more and more nervous at 4-5, coz Marat couldn't shoot his first service, but luckily his second service was dengerous too so he managed to bring the score 5-5. It started getting hot at 5-6 coz Kiefer had a breakpoint and almost won the whole set. BTW when it was 30-30 one of Kiefer's balls bounced on the line and it looked as it was out. It distracted Marat's attention and he made such a terrible error that Polish comentator shrieked "oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!" (okay maybe for you guys it isn't anything surprising, but Polish comentators are never emotional so basically I was ROTRL). In the tiebreak Marat didn't have any problems, especially that Kiefer helped him to win doing some ugly errors in the net. After winning first set Marat smiled to the people in his box. I saw there only Walt and Peter whose face looked fatter than usually but I guess it's because he had his hair in a ponytail . I think there were also some other people behind them but I'm not sure. And I haven't seen Dasha either. Okay so that was the first set. I have no idea what happened in the 2nd and 3rd, but if you guys say that he kept finghting till the end, I feel much better. Oh, and I saw JC too. Hehehe he wasn't very interested in the match Anik>> Thank you so much for the photos, I'm happy that you have such a hobby !!!!! And Miek, thank you for the pics too. I didn't see the match but I'm guessing that he didn't serve too well. I opened the live scores after the first set, in the middle of second and Kiefer had 9 break points! I was shocked! Plus kiefer had atlest 12! aces. What sort of returning is that?

Marat!!! One of the reasons I like you is because you are unpredictable. But recently you became totally predictable! It's not a question of will you win or lose [to] anyone today, it's now a question of how badly you will lose. Please change that!

I didn't see the match but I'm guessing that he didn't serve too well. It wasn't that bad. I saw him serving worse in other matches so I think I can say that he serves pretty well. |

his final serve percentage was 48%. at one point in the first set it was 38%. in the end he pulled it up to 44%. second set was about 50%. third set...ard...53%? but kiefer's serve was on a roll in the 3rd setl. at one point it was 80%.
if it's any consolation to u vass, i think marat had more aces. some of his aces were gorgeous.
volleying was patchy. some moments of brilliance, but mostly moments of insanity. kiefer was pouncing on his volleys!
