My big pixie did it! He has now made me have to get in yet another queue to get the train back to hotel ... But I don't mind one wit. Sorry I didn't give you updates - my fingers were clenched in to my palms all the way through the match. I passed 2 handfuls of fairy dust to Aunty Denise to chuck over him as she was down at the front. Triple strength again. If I see him at the practice courts tomorrow, I'll have te restrain myself from vaulting over the fence to give him a hug and a kiss.
Wonder if the big dope still thinks he can't play on grass!
Need to go - train arrived.
PS He was watering the garden? Good boy. I told him to take up gardening ... Step in the right direction!

Wimby Live Commentator Story: apparently some reporters met with Marat at the house he's renting this past Sunday, and when they got there, he was watering the garden -- they had a good laugh with that thought ;D Monday "Everybody Plays!" Day is shaping up to be pretty sweet ... Fed-Hewitt will be the pair's 21st (!) meeting (Fed leads 13-7, with Lleyton not getting a win since 2003) ... Baghdatis-Lopez, Verdasco-Ancic and Marat-Wawrinka Yeah, i had to lol too when they talked and talked and talked about that ... It isn't THAT weird that a guy is doing some plant-watering (i assume it was water he watered ) on his day off All the 4rth round match-ups sound so amazing ... can't wait till monday ;D ... It's good they have a sunday off... i can get back to get some sleep then But there's tomorrow before that, with some pretty appetizing match-ups too: Haas-Murray, Stepanek-Youzhny, Kiefer-Nadal Don't forget Tipsarevic-Tursunov, Mathieu-Cilic, and Simon-Gasquet ;D Tomorrow sounds like fun too , too bad i can't watch then though ... planned other very mucho fun things ;D

I'm sure it's not healthy to be eating bean curd and noodles at this time of night, but what the hell? I'm famished. Celebratory meal.
It was good to see him hold himself together - he's awfully restrained these days.2 tiebreaks as well? LMAO. Well done Big Yin - was VERY proud of you.
Bet he was watering weeds ...

Marat Safin def. Andreas Seppi 7‑6, 3‑6, 7‑6, 6‑4
Q. What does it mean to you to get to the second week here?
MARAT SAFIN: Well, I didn't made it since a couple of years, I think, and for me it's a big achievement. I'm pleased with the way I'm playing, actually. This is the most important thing.
Q. How was that match on you physically?
MARAT SAFIN: It's okay. It was a tough match. The guy played, I think, one of his best matches. He's a fast player, knows what to do, plays very well on grass, moves very well.
At the end of the match it was pretty tough because we both, I think, couldn't see the ball anymore. I was a little bit worried because I couldn't see the ball at the end.
Q. What happened on the last couple points then?
MARAT SAFIN: Yeah, two frames and I just ‑‑ I couldn't see it anymore. Just all of a sudden you cannot see it. At the score 3‑2 I just couldn't see. I explained with the timing, that's it, and I think he did the same.
Q. Do you think you handled the whole light situation a little better than he did because he's sort of a less experienced player and he did a lot more complaining on the changeovers?
MARAT SAFIN: I don't think he complained about anything.
Q. He seemed more outwardly aggravated.
MARAT SAFIN: For him it was a big match, I think, also to beat me in the third round, especially the way he played. I think the match was a really close one, and with a little bit of experience I think he could get to the fifth set. Then you never know what could happen.
But I think just a little bit of experience helped me a lot.
Q. Were you torn a little bit between, well, things are going well right now, maybe we should try to finish, or this is crazy, I really can't see?
MARAT SAFIN: I prefer to play tomorrow than to finish today, because you never know. It's the fifth set and it's a new story. It's better to stop and play tomorrow. It's just a new day and we finish it up.
Q. At what point would you have said something to the officials.
MARAT SAFIN: I think at 3‑3 or 3‑2 I said, When are we going to stop? I really say, I couldn't speak loud because I didn't want guys to hear about it, because it was really important.
Because every time we played ‑‑ that's what I was trying to get a fast point. Just attack or just go to the net or try to make a first serve, just a winner, because I couldn't really see. I couldn't play the point.
Q. What was the official's answer to you?
MARAT SAFIN: Well, we have to stop when we are even. This is not exactly the response that I want to hear, but it looks like it has to be like 5‑All, 6‑All and then just go the next day.
But it's not really satisfying for me.
Q. Because you were up a break?
MARAT SAFIN: For me, if I want to stop and I am up a break, I think I'm the one who wants to stop, not him. Because he has all the rights also to stop because he is losing and he can't see the ball. I'm the one who doesn't see the ball and I want to stop, which is, I think, pretty fair.
Q. But if he said you had to stop when you were even that would mean you would have given the break back by then.
MARAT SAFIN: It was close, 5‑All, and then you never know what's going to happen tomorrow.
Q. How well are you playing now?
MARAT SAFIN: I think pretty good tennis, pretty good level. I think I just start to feel much more comfortable match by match.
Q. When you get momentum from winning, how does that help you?
MARAT SAFIN: Well, I get nervous. Like when it's tough moments, like when I was a break up in the fourth set, it was just hold the serve and just continue. But I went double fault and one easy mistake, and that's it.
Just, again, you're back in it to try to make another break, so it's just some moments you need to be more focused.
Q. You've won three now. How far do you think you can go?
MARAT SAFIN: I'm playing against Wawrinka. I've never beat him. I really want to get revenge. I think it should happen here, and I'm looking forward.
Q. You quite rightly didn't have huge expectations coming in because of your second round opponent. Have you looked at the draw the last couple days and set a new goal for yourself?
MARAT SAFIN: Well, match by match. It's just you don't want to have a lot of expectations, because when you start to have a lot of expectations you just end up losing in the third round to God knows who.
Just for me, I'm just trying to get as close as I can to top 50. This is my goal just heading into the summer in the U.S. I think it should make a really huge difference. I would love to have seeded in the US Open.
Now that I have a chance to get there, why not? I'm on the second week of the Grand Slam and I'm playing against Wawrinka. I think just have a chance there, so why not? I think there is a chance, and you take it.
Q. Will you be buying any more plane tickets?
MARAT SAFIN: No. Well, I'll try to postpone until Monday.

Safin shines in the gloom Friday, 27 June 2008 Written by Kate Battersby
The former world number one Marat Safin won through to his first Grand Slam fourth round in almost two years this evening. In near-darkness on No.1 Court, the man who beat Novak Djokovic built on that success with a thrilling win over the No. 29 seed Andreas Seppi 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4. He will face Stanislas Wawrinka in the last 16.
This was the first time since last year that Safin, now ranked 75, had been able to string three successive wins together, and it could not have been more popular with the crowd. Wimbledon remains the only Slam where he has never made the semi-finals. His opponent today was already breaking new ground, having never made the third round of any Slam before.
In the first set, there was no telling which way the match might go. It was all tactical warfare as Seppi blazed away from the baseline. The lone chance to break came at 4-3 for Safin but Seppi saved the chance with his serve. In fact, Safin's serve was superior but his errors were doing him no favours.
When it came, the tie-break was nip and tuck. Safin fell behind but got into his stride, out-thinking Seppi from the back of the court. He contributed a particularly spectacular effort when diving for, and simultaneously throwing his racket at, a Seppi passing shot to no avail. But he wanted this win, and grabbed another mini-break with yet another powerful forehand before sending down an unreturnable serve to take the set.
After the famine of break points in the first set there was a flood in the second. In the v first game, Safin skied a forehand to gift the break. Cross with himself, he broke back – although he had to survive the embarrassment of an air shot to do it. Seppi sent a marvellous forehand down the line to take the advantage again. This time Safin became so frustrated with himself that he sent a forehand high into the stands, where it rattled down Staircase 20 before being retrieved.
Matters continued to see-saw. Safin double-faulted to give Seppi a 5-1 lead, and then reduced the deficit to 5-3. But the Russian was still sending his groundstrokes too long, and Seppi took the set. It was the first Safin had lost this Wimbledon.
Come the third set, the drought was restored. As the light faded dramatically, break points were nowhere to be found and the set moved inexorably into the tie-break. A sudden string of errors from Seppi's racquet handed Safin a 4-0 advantage and Seppi could not recover.
Despite the gloom, they opted to keep playing, a decision Seppi came to regret when Safin pressed home his two sets to one lead by breaking the Italian at once. Seppi levelled, and Safin snatched it back again. In near-darkness, the Russian fought off two break points at 5-4 to take a memorable victory

watched it all last night...i didn't get to sleep till freaking 4:30 in the morning here! But it was all worth it...He was playing spectacularly from the first point. I kept praying for him not to lose his cool in the second set...he did bounce his racket once, but he did it.
BTW, My dad wakes up at 4am and found me still awake! he was asking me something about finances during the 4th...i didn't answer and he got miffed. LOL! Whatcha gonna do? I haven't slept, i'm having multiple heart attacks...and I'm watching Marat Safin! You can't disturb me!
Anyway, Congrats to Marat for reaching the second week of Wimbledon! Last 16! I'm so happy! keep it up and good luck with your revenge to Wawrinka!!

In the queue - no idea what place as we haven't been given queue cards yet in this section, but I think I'll get in the grounds for about 12.30, then it's round to practice courts for a rest.
Enjoyed reading the Big Yin's post match interview. He's looking for 'revenge' on Stan - fighting talk, excellent. He needs to remember that Stan hasn't beaten him on what is now the Big Yin's best surface. LMAO, I love being able to say that! His best surface is grass.
Who is this new man we see before us? Such a treat. LOL.
It was very dark last night, but I'm glad they played on as it worked in the Big Yin's favour. Apparently he did query playing on in the light. Bless you umpire!
Hope he remembers to water the plants today.

Hi most96, welcome to tgfr! Thanks for coming with presents - the interview is the same I posted a bit earlier, BTW (really want his brown hoodie ). I'm sure the video of the whole match will appear on some torrent sites soon. It's also on my computer, but I guess that doesn't help you much, LOL If you are generally interested in downloading matches, register at www.t3nnis.tv It's a torrent site just for tennis matches and they have a lot of good stuff (newest the Safin-Djokovic match). I think they are open for new members at the moment. If not, I can hand out a few invitations (PM me if you want one).
