Reading everything this morning ... still can't believe it ... can you imagine if they didn't finish last night and had to come back today?? C-r-a-z-y. So much riding on just one match ... unbelievable. Just fantastic, which wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for both guys. (For those in the states that wish to live the experience again: It'll air tonight as an Instant Classic on ESPN Classic ) Yesterday - heck, the whole two weeks - is proof positive why I love tennis. You just never know what is going to happen. Even until the very end of the 5th set -- either one of them could have won it. Unpredictable. Thriller. History. The storylines that emerge: Comebacks. Upsets. Marathons. Mother Nature. Greatness. True, it doesn't always happen this way, and some things can be more predictable than others. But there's always a chance for things to get shaken up. All the conditions and the variables that are a part of this sport adds to the excitement and the intrigue - how can you not watch? You can't write this stuff. Same with AO this year - that marathon of a first weekend - you can't make this stuff up. Simply: Brilliant. <3 ;D

I´ve found a short article about Marat and Wimby.
Wimbledon-Safin hopes revival spells return to good times Jul 4, 1:45 pm EDT By Sonia Oxley LONDON, July 4 (Reuters) - Beaten semi-finalist Marat Safin said he hoped his good Wimbledon run marked the start of a return to the type of tennis that won him two grand slam titles and a number one ranking. Friday’s 6-3 7-6 6-4 defeat by Roger Federer was the Russian’s first appearance in a semi-final this year and it was on his least favourite surface of grass. His defeat of four seeds on the way, including world number three Novak Djokovic, should see him return to the world’s top 40—having come into the championships ranked 75th—and has given him a major confidence boost. “I want to take full advantage of it, and I’m trying to look forward and try to accommodate as many matches as I can before I start to play the big tournaments like the U.S. Open. You want to be seeded,” he told a news conference. “I want start to do better on Masters Series events, because I didn’t pass the second round in last three years. But I think with these matches that I won here, it should help me to get through second round and third round and look forward to beating the big guys.” The 2000 U.S. Open and 2005 Australian Open champion admitted he had been slightly nervous facing world number one Federer and that the Swiss had made him pay for that. “The beginning was terrible. I should have at least stayed with him a little bit longer. But just, of course, he takes advantage,” the 28-year-old said. “Then, of course in the tiebreak, the first point was a terrible mistake from the middle of the court. You can’t miss these shots against these kinds of players.” He said he hoped Federer, who has won 12 grand slam titles, would one day surpass Pete Sampras’ record of 14—for partly selfish reasons. “I guess I can say to my kids that I played against him,” he joked. woo-hoo! nice read - find myself going 'yep, yep, true, true, oh yeah' etc ... and it's one of those things that's hard to find the right words to start describing it, but once you start, you just keep going on and on with the praises, brilliance and greatness that was that match. Can't get enough of it.
