02.02.2006 Marat enjoyed his birthday with family and friends and saw the birthday messages and was very pleased. I hope to get his comments later. He has spent the week in Moscow and also attended Boris Yeltsin's birthday party (his birthday was yesterday). Tomorrow Marat flies back to Valencia and on Monday he will fly to Amsterdam to practice with the Russian Davis Cup Team and to give them support although he is not playing in the actual Davis Cup. Marat will start playing again at the Open 13 Marseilles which starts on Monday 13th February.
Please note - the winners of the Rotterdam tickets will be contacted after the weekend.

17.02.06 Marat has officially withdrawn from ABN-AMRO Tournament Rotterdam starting 20.02.06
17.02.06 Message from Marat To all my dear fans As you may have heard I decided with the advice of my coach Peter Lundgren, to pull out from the Rotterdam event. This decision was only taken after a lot of thought. I really did want to compete at the Rotterdam tennis tournament. I do feel completely recovered and healthy after my injury, however both I myself and Peter felt that I still need more time to practice and push myself physically and mentally in order to gain confidence and ensure I can compete at the highest level. I do not want to enter a tournament that I cannot give of myself fully and compete for all the matches, not just one or two. In order to do that I needed to make sure I was strong physically. I can only tell you that I am very anxious to get back on the circuit and to play tennis competitively again but we do feel that this is the right decision to start back in a competition outdoors on hard court in Dubai and therefore be ready for my main task of the Masters Series in Indian Wells and Miami. I know that you all wish to see me playing and are getting impatient to see me back but I want to be back fit and well and know that I can compete once again with the top level of ATP men's tennis. This time has been very frustrating for me as well but I know that I have to be patient and keep practicing to be ready for the challenge when I finally start back again. I thank all of you my fans for your continued support and for not giving up on me or forgetting me over this long absence from the tennis courts. To my fans in Marseilles and Holland - I hope that you understand me and why I have had to do this and I promise to be there next year at both events. I will be back Marat
