Well I don't know what to say, I have very mixed feelings about this. There were a lot of positive moments this weekend and a lot of negatiev ones, too. Positive: 1. Doubles was amazingly good fun ;D 2. Kolya so needed that win to actually find his mind again. His post-match interview really showed how hard it was but at the same time how happy it made him feel. 3. I get to save a lot of money not having to pay for DC final tickets LMAO ;D Negative: 1. Rafa is not coming to Moscow 2. Igor lost all his matches (and I so think he had his chances on Friday but blew way too many) 3. The overall loss. Ah well. Whatever happened happened and there is no point crying over spilled milk. They gave it their all and I thank them for it. Good luck next season

What the Argentine Tennis Federation has done is really a disaster. Buenos Aires, the province where Mar Del Plata is, is the richest Argentine province and there are rumors that BA´s goverment threw "some" money over the table during the negociations. The tie should be played in Cordoba, and I understand David´s frustration, really. He opened his mouth in front of a journalist a couple of hours after he knew Mar del Plata was the venue chosen. He shouldn´t have..., but everyone here know about frustrated tennis players opening their mouths when they shouldn´t LOL ;D If I´m not wrong, what he said (and it could have been translated or interpretated differently) is that he´s considering not playing future Davis Cups, not really THIS final...., at least that´s what I understood when I read Clarin. Anyway, despite having different priorities in his life than most of the tennis players has has indeed been an inclredible DC player and team member. Argentines should be grateful to David, because he gives everything in every tie he plays. There´s no doubt about it.

bummer Nadal To Miss Davis Cup Final Spain will be without the services of Rafael Nadal when the Davis Cup team travels to Argentina for the final later this month after the World No. 1 confirmed he would not be able to play due to right knee tendonitis. Nadal had clinched Spain's place in the Davis Cup final with a decisive three-sets win over Andy Roddick of the defending champion U.S. squad in September. He also was a member of the winning 2004 team that defeated the Americans 3-2 in Seville. "After a long and very positive season, it pains me to miss the two main objectives of the year, the (Tennis Masters Cup in) Shanghai and Davis (Cup) final," Nadal said at a press conference on Tuesday. "This is a difficult time, but I have done everything possible to try and make this final. I am used to playing with pain, but this is a new and different kind of pain, which I can't manage to control." Nadal retired with a knee injury in his quarterfinal match against Nikolay Davydenko at the BNP Paribas Masters three weeks ago, and afterwards withdrew from the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai. The 22-year-old Mallorcan finishes his career-best season with a 82-11 record and eight titles, including wins at Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the Beijing Olympics. He is guaranteed to finish the season as the No. 1 player in the South African Airways ATP Rankings, ending Roger Federer's four-year reign at the top spot. He is the first Spaniard to finish as the top player in the world. Spain will be looking to snap Argentina's 13-tie winning streak on home soil when the two teams face off from November 21-23 at Mar del Plata. Spain has won its previous two meetings against Argentina, when they played host in the 1926 quarterfinals and 2003 semifinals. Spain has won two Davis Cup titles (2000, '04) from five finals, while Argentina is a two-time runner-up.

As our commentators said yesterday poor chucho is turning into PHM It was really sad to see but Argies blew it themselves, it was a perfect chance for them to finally win the davis cup.... Del Potro proved to be too young and not yet prepared for a decisive cup final match and doubles were pretty tight but definitely decisive. congrats to Spain, I bet Rafa was happy ;D The season is officially over

Argentine Alberto Mancini said on Monday that he will not play as the Davis Cup team captain following their loss to Spain 3-1 in the final. He said before the final that he would quit as captain whatever the result is.
