*sigh* Spain wins ... shame Andy had to get a royal beatdown by Rafa, but what can you do ... at least we got ONE win ... Russia - Argentina still duking it out -- this is how it should have been from the start on Friday, fighting tooth and nail ... In the playoffs ties: Switzerland, Croatia, Israel, Romania, Serbia, Austria, Netherlands and Chile join USA, Spain, Russia, Argentina, France, Germany, Sweden and the Czech Republic for World Group 2009 Spain v either Russia or Argentina in November should be fun

I agree - I'm hoping Iggy has the fighting spirit. Remember the performance from him and Marat on their own in Chile last year?
Go Team Russia

Woo hoo, still hope for the Russkis! No comment on GB today. My heart did bleed for Boggy though. What a weight of expectation on his wee shoulders ... Was hard to watch. Pixievodka, I'd made up a vat of fairy dust and shipped it over to the boys. Today I was concentrating on creating green tomato chutney ... to use up the endless bloody tomatoes that never ripen in a Scottish summer. 8 pounds used up today ... think there's at least another 12 pounds waiting for me ... friends and relatives will be so pleased, endless supplies yet again ... ;D I'm heading up to Pitlochry tomorrow for 5 days of bliss. I'll do a Marat and stand gazing at the salmon and the trout in the river ... maybe I should take my rod with me ...

He is down 2-0 and 2 breaks down in set 3
My thoughts on the weekend are that Russia lost the tie on day 1 with poor performances and some rough luck. Brilliant doubles match - done everything they could do esp with tiring out Nalby which Kolya captalised today but unfortunately Igor looks to have fallen short
Its a shame cos it was a fightback of true courage and determination - i kinda which we had lost 3-0 because it makes the defeat ever so agonising and heart wrenching - so near but yet so far. But the boys are done for 2008 - Brilliant displays lets look forward to 2009 and bringing the DC back to Moscow!

I so wished Dima could've played today; maybe he would've been more efficient and at his ease against a big guy like Juan-Martin! oh well! hopefully Russia won't have to face neither Serbia neither Switzerland next year!

Oh, well, it's close. Hope Iggy didn't feel so bad about losing the deciding rubber. I believe he has already tried his best.
Great job, still. Let's hope for a better year 2009.

Shame...I actually think Argentina is the team to beat - on the basis of their performance (with the exception of Nalbandian today) IMO they will easily be the favourites. Hope Marat will be involved next year
