I'd say DiMarat have a good chance of being called. Dream pairing with the Big Yin being stronger doubles player. Tssk. Why doesn't he play more doubles? Will it be broadcast on SKY or are they going to concentrate on somebody that we're not interested in watching? LOL. PS technical query. If you make a mistake typing a line of text on a Blackberry and make a mistake, do you always have to go to the end of the line with the cursor and delete backwards? How do you jump in to the middle of a line. I'm checking out laptops at the weekend. With any luck, I'll be in cyberspace again in the next fortrnight. It's saving me a fortune - I ain't shopping online.

I'd say DiMarat have a good chance of being called. in this case who will not be in the team - Davydenko (#4 in the world), Andreev (best russian clay player) or Youzhny (#11 and DC hero)?

Oh we can discuss this endlessly. Misha, Marat and Mitya are all in Moscow and training. Igor lost to Berdych in Miami yesterday so I assume he'd be here shortly with Kolya to follow once he finishes his perfomance there. They have a week to make their minds up. They have to assess their current shapes and see who is more fit and suitable for singles. If Marat gets picked for doubles - the only person I see staying out of the tie is Mitya, but somehow I find that very unlikely.

you guys are freaking out for nothing! Marat is called becoz shamil wants him to be there, we won't know what kind of help he's gonna be to this team until the dc weekend, he can either be picked up for singles or doubles, the court suits his tennis! it all depends on the players shape anfd attitude during this preparation, and personnally the only one i think won't play is dima his game doesn't fit clay, so! anyway the decision is to the captain and he will do the best for his team and country and I trust him for that! p.s: I missed ya guys, it's good to be back where we belong!

Tennis Channel's commentator duo Doug Adler and Robbie Koenig speculated about the DC tie in Russia yesterday. Robbie came up with the "expert opinion" that the Russians will host the tie on an OUTDOOR clay court... ;D ;D ;D I suppose Mr. Koenig hasn't been to Moscow in April yet, LOL ;D I would love to see that happen, though, with the players wearing long underwear, mittens, and wool caps. Hilarious! I remember it snowed last year when I was there for the tie against France... It might be another trick from Tarpi ...... He might have informed them wrongly, by suggesting they play outside on a clay court .... Wonder how and where they'll pop out a court like that then in the area of the stadium Would love to see that happen though... All the guys in tights, playing in the snow Are you still looking forward to your "bday weekend" then, Anna ?? Btw.... Very but ..... OMG, Anna ... I just your Avater!!!!!!!!!! Do they have that for Arsenal as well ??

. Can you look ahead to next week and the Davis Cup, Russia, what your feelings are and how that might play out? TOMAS BERDYCH: Yeah, well, it's going to be really tough. It's going to be really hard for us, especially for me, because, I mean, to get from here to Europe and then to Russia, it's not going to be easy. Then come after the long trip here in the States, come back and play indoor on the clay with really tough opponents from Russia, it's really not going to be easy. Well, the atmosphere is going to be different. It's going to be team match, so I'm looking forward for that. I like all the Davis Cup ties and everything. So we'll see. Q. How tough is their team? TOMAS BERDYCH: Well, I mean, they have a lot of options. For us, we have, I think, really good just two singles players, and then depends on the doubles. But they can put I think four or five players into the team and whatever or whoever is feeling better, has better form, he can play.

Bloody mess: is tennis star Youzhny losing it? Mikhail Youzhny's coach, Boris Sobkin, says his player is having a crisis and not ready for Russia's Davis Cup quarter-final with the Czech Repuiblic next week. Youzhny made the news at the Miami Masters earlier in the week when he beat his head with a tennis racket, reacting to an unforced error while playing against Nicolas Almagro.
Although he went on to win the match, Sobkin says the world number eleven is undergoing a deep psychological crisis and is not fit for the Davis Cup tie.
Team captain Shamil Tarpischev, meanwhile, insists it’s a lot of fuss over nothing, saying he's just an emotional player.
Tarpischev's named Youzhny in his preliminary squad for the upcoming tie, when Russia take on the Czech Republic starting next Friday in Moscow.

Youzhny will be recovering from his head injuries. LMAO. If the Big Yin had done that, he'd be in a padded cell by now.

Safin to play in Davis Cup quarter-final
Russian Davis Cup captain Shamil Tarpishchev says two-time Grand Slam winner Marat Safin will play a part in Russia’s quarter-final tie against the Czech Republic next week at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
Marat Safin and Dmitry Tursunov opened Russia’s practice session almost a week before the start of the tie, both having just arrived from the Miami Masters where Safin lost his third straight opening match this year.
Safin's won just one game so far this season but remains the fans’ choice and his presence in the team after a one-year break adds to the atmosphere.
Team Captain Shamil Tarpishchev says the team’s extremely fit, so he has a rare chance to choose from a variety of top class players.
“I have to wait and see who feels more comfortable on this kind of surface, and only then I’ll make up my mind. However, I’m sure Safin will play in this tie. His appearance in the singles is a possibility because Nikolay Davydenko is still at the Miami Masters and it won't be that he'll arrive in Moscow until Tuesday," Tarpishchev said.
Meanwhile, Safin gave his own view of his recent form: “I’ve won just one official match this year - not the best of starts to the season. But I’m eager to do better, especially with the team,” he said.
Tarpishchev also gave his views on the recent emotional turmoil of Mikhail Youzhny. The Russian beat his head with a racket because of an unforced error in his match against Nicolas Almagro.
“He’s the most emotional of Russian players. I don’t see any negative tendency in that single incident. He’s willing to play for the team and hopefully will be able to,” he said.
Igor Andreev, who’s also been named in the preliminary team, will arrive in Moscow on Sunday.
The Czechs, led by world number ten Tomas Berdych and the experienced Radek Stepanek, are expected on the same day as well.
