I tried to spend a week in Southern France - tried only, though. Hubby thought it would be great idea to travel by car this time so we borrowed my parents vehicle (newer, bigger, faster, air-con, etc.) and set off towards our destination. We made it to Paris - and then the car broke down Irreparable as it turned out two days later... So instead of exploring the South we spent three days in the City of Love; generally not bad, but I'm in Paris at least once a year anyway and the trip to Bercy is already booked...you can tell it's a luxury problem Anyway, we finally made it to our original destination by rental car three days late and met up with some of Jesse's family. We stayed in a region called Périgord Noir. The area became famous because of the Lascaux caves where locals discovered extremely well-preserved cave paintings by the Neanderthals. So the things to do there these days are cave-watching, visiting Medieval towns, canoeing on the Dordogne, and eating Foie Gras (lots of geese farms around there). It's a beautiful place, I can highly recommend going there. It's a shame we had to leave after just three nights so the German Automobile Club would transfer us back to Germany by train (my parents still don't have their car back, it's on the way somewhere between Paris and home). I'll give you some photos. One of my favorite buildings in Paris, the "Institut du Monde Arabe" (Arab World Institute) Gargoyle-counting at Notre Dame It was hot in Paris - the city's best ice-cream place Berthillon was crowded. Parisians tried to get as much sun as possible. The rooftops alone are a reason to visit the city - sooo romantic ;D Our hotel in the Périgord, in a town called Thonac (the right building) A town called Montignac St. Léon-sur-Vézère Sarlat, with it's huge farmer's market. Beynac The beautiful countryside - little castles everywhere... P.S.: Thanks for the Malta pictures, Anna! A few wedding shots would've been nice...

I'll do my pics in stages. Less hassle for Annie and Denise - I've done this unaided ... I'll be a while. Wait until I master video clip posting ... I'll footer around with my old tennis pics for you as well. Sad, but true. Here is where I start every holiday in Pitlochry. On the dam. Counting the number of salmon that have gone upstream. There's a 'fish ladder' - a series of tunnels that help them upstream - and you can stand in the viewing chamber and watch them. Over 3,000 at that point in August! I know my fish. I fantasised in the hotel that number 3,101 was on my plate! With some mashed potatoes and green beans. And a pesto sauce. Pitlochry Golf Course. Brill wee course over 18 holes. I'm knackered just getting to the first hole. If I don't get my holiday home here, | intend to retire here. Brill countryside, and more importantly, fantastic people. Bless 'em. Another shot of Pitlochry. It's a Victorian town - it grew alongside the expansion of the railways in the Highlands. Met a celebrity. Nessie. The bunnet (Scottish cap) looked good. Didn't get much of a chance to speak to her! My favourite pub in Pitlochry. The Moulin. Brill. A day at Blair Athol. This is taken in the grounds of Blair Castle. It's a very 'fairytale' castle - have a look. www.blair-castle.co.uk/ The big bugger Ben Y Vrackie. Nearly 3,000 feet. My thigh muscles still ache after getting to the top. And it was years ago! You can't get away from him!!! You can see him from anywhere,

Blair Athol again. There was a country fair on when we were there. And a 3 day event horse trial. Thought it was so cute. Ben Y Vrackie again. The Cuilc - a very large duck pond. When you stand at the water's edge, no matter if the ducks are on the other side of the loch, they'll come zooming over in the hope that you have a loaf of bread on you. I was mugged last winter. A shot from the bridge going in to the town of Dunkeld. The main square in Dunkeld. In the Scottish Explorers' Garden in Pitlochry. This has been taking shape over the last 5 or 6 years. Early days yet. www.pitlochry.org.uk/garden.phpAnother shot in the garden. Forgot to take some photos of the theatre. It's on the riverbank - very picturesque. Here's the link to the theatre www.pitlochry.org.uk/

Gawd. This hurt ... and it's only 3,000 feet. The Big Yin is going up something that's 8,000 metres!!! (Is that 3 times the size of this?) Take care Big Yin. Keep wearing the tartan shorts for luck.

Jings. Think it's 8 times the size! (I'm crap at conversions). Make sure that you have all the Goretex outerwear - and plenty of chocolate! The other 7 better be looking after you! Hey, you could have mentioned it earlier and Annie and I could have been sherpas ... to about 6,000 feet. I'd have carried the tartan shorts with pride. ;D It would have given me the opportunity to nag you, uninterrupted, about Wimbledon for a few hours! ;D Annie would have fluttered her eyelashes and sighed probably. At you, not me I might add. ;D I'm not her type.

LMAO. Hope you had a good break. You'll have gathered by now that the Big Yin is up a mountain in Kathmandu. Why doesn't that really sound that surprising? LMAO. The lack of oxygen will clear the cobwebs from his brain. He'll be back invigorated. His good fairy is fluttering over him ...
