I'm wondering what you guys study (or have studied) or what your jobs are. Right now I seriously don't know what to do with my life. Doesn't that sound dramatic? I'm studying at the School of Social Work right now, finished my first two years in one year, but now I don't want to continue because I'm not "feeling it", so to speak. So, I really don't know what I wanna do anymore, so do you guys have suggestions? Maybe I'll get some good ideas I haven't thought of myself...

hmmz.. I'm doing Molecular Life Science.. doesnt really fit into your profile I guess.... ;D It's a universitary study about solving questions and problems on molecular level with all kinds of natural sciences.. such as medical science, pharmacy, biology, ecology and foodtechnology... The study is about learning to understand how the healthy and ill human functions at the molecular level, so that you can develop medicines for all kinds of illnesses. Therefor you have to know stuff about genomica (the base for this is the Human Genome Project) proteomica, bioinformatics, bioelectronics etc... The study is huge.. you learn about lots of things.. and to conect everything, it's not only about molecules and that tiny stuff.. but also about genes, cells and whole organisms in their environment... Wokeej... after this.. I'm pretty sure you dont wanna go study this... but it's fun! Really! I just finished my first year (really happy I made it in one year!! ) and for me it's really interesting! ;)Caroline

It's a University study right? How long does it take? Great that you get to find medicines for all kinds of illnesses. Congratz with your first year ;D That's great, making it at once!

Hahaha, advice coming from someone who doesn't know what to choose herself, ironic I have a lot of communication stuff in my study, I'm getting so tired of it. BUT, that is my experience with communication I'm not even studying it, so cannot say anything about it. I also concidered stuyding English. But the most jobs in that are as an English teacher...and I don't really wanna do that either. But the study itself, I do think that's great!

But Myke you can be translator or journalist ...... if you will learn english....and it's not pretty bad.....i think so....(lol)

Pfff it is indeed very difficult to choose. You're so right. And me, I've been stuck in the same sort of working field for about 4 years, and only now decided I don't wanna do that anymore. But that's all I know. So how do I know what else I like to do, in professional sense. I have to decide within a week wether or not to continue with the study I'm doing right now.... aaargh!! I'm considering to go working for a year, to figure it all out.

oh man I won't say anything in this thread coz it reminds me that I still didn't get in to any uni and I have no idea what will happen next month . Though I should get the answer from college soon..... god I'm so scared hate to rain on your parade, but if you study English you won't become a translator or a journalist, you have to go a different study for that. really? In Poland when you study English at uni you can become a teacher or translator (but not a journalist), so that's why I want to study English. I don't want to be a teacher but being a translator is not so bad

yeah didn't sound all that bad to me either, but then I read up on it, most of the translating will be done sitting in a tiny office, stuck behind a computer. If I was gonna be a translator I wanted to be the kind that sits there with the ppl and translates what is said. the kind where you maybe get to travel, All i want to do is travel!!! but there's not much demand for that, well not for Dutch-English translators. Appearantly there's a demand for Chinese-Dutch-English and Russian-Dutch-English translators, n in those cases you would sit there with the ppl. So I was thinking about that. but learning 1or2 new languages, not really looking forward to that. but maybe I'll go study in Moscow or St Petersberg. THAT does sound good!!!! then I'd probably study international law there. (But that's probably too ambitious. Probably just end up living all my life in this country.) or maybe I'll just become an au-pair, i really don't know!
