actually, I think you're right, i saw a "tour" of the village, n they also showed the rooms, and they showed where Henin was gonna sleep, in a one person bed and then there was a bed next to it, but that was for another belgian athlete, so don't think they're allowed there ok, so 4 the married peeps it must b kinda hard 2 have all that goin on around u! ;D

dunno r "partners" etc allowed in the athletes village, cos i thought it was pretty strict in there....obviously not yeah not sure.... i saw a report on tv during RG, they were showing the appartments for the athletes in the village, they didn't look very big, and the athletes are going to share apartments.... so i dunno if their gf/bf can stay in the village

Partners are not allowed in the athletes Village, even when both are competing. Bettina, Andrew's wife, is riding for Germany but he stays with the Australian team and she stays with the German team.

LOL! Christina,
No expert here, but my little brother was a security volounteer in Sydney (he is a member of the Rural Fire Service). Where Andrew is polite David is not. He reckoned a lot of condoms get used up in water bombs, etc. but the polite description from one of the journalists at Sydney was that with so many ultra-fit, ultra-hot bods, the expectation that sex does not happen is a bit naieve. *grin* Little brother also reckoned the hookers did a great business in Sydney, including those just there for the Games. Apparently, because they are free, the condoms also get hoarded.

Table Tennis (is that an Olympic Sport) to China yep it is (love your signature Ivy) well, they're not obliged to stay at the village, they can get a room in a hotel, or even rent a house for the 2 weeks, especially if it's a couple with children.... That's what french champion Raphael Poiree (biathlon) and his wife Liv Grete, from Finland, did during the winter olympics in 2002 if i remember well. They rent an apartment, thus they could be together with their baby and the nanny...

LOL! A water fight is pretty normal in a summer camp of any kind, a way to cool off and burn some energy and high spirits, harmless fun. Condoms have always made terrific water bombs. Damita is right, they do not have to stay in the village, but most athletes do and it's expected that they do to foster team spirit and support each other. Saw today that the Iraqi soccer team won their first match. COnsidering what the team went through when Uday Hussein was in charge that brought a big smile to my face.
