So Jessse Levine is for Marat Safin most likely on Monday from what i gather - likely to be on an outside court. Levine is a lefty, plays with pace, has underachieved so far but can be dangerous and as Marat finds out people rise to the top agaisnt him so potential bannana skin
Marat has decided to play Doubles too at Wimbledon and is partnering Golubev - 1st Round match is against Garcia Lopez and Ivan Navarro
Im working at the Championships again so if anyone is going PM me and i will try to update and get photos of the man at his Final Wimbledon - What a relief LOL

the dumb questions to Rafa just slay me ... give the guy a break - such a difficult decision and presser to give - and trying to get through it in two languages to get his point across, got to give Rafa props for being such a stand-up young man

Can someone tell me what happens if Rafa decides not to play? Do the seeds all get shuffled around or does the draw stay the same? According to an official ruling posted on Wimby's official site, if seeds 1-4 withdraw before the OOP is posted on Sunday, then nr. 5 seed takes their place and nr. 17th seed takes nr. 5 place. All others remain where they are. Thanks for clearing that up. Sorry not to reply earlier. I get it now.

Sensible choice under the circumstances for Rafa. No point in being silly about this and then giving himself a worse, or permanent, injury. Wimbles will be there next year. Hope his wee knees get better - maybe he needs to think about adapting his game more now. His knees could be knackered by the time he's 25 if he doesn't. Hey, my Big Pixie is playing doubles in a Slam! And it's Wimbles! Excellent, I can go take some more piccies and vids for us all! Wish me luck. Endless queues beckon ... I can feel my arse and feet starting to go numb already. At least the pavements look as if they will be dry and warm for most of next week. ;D FG

Roger Federer is to kick of Wimbledon 2009 on Monday so if logic goes and his half of the draw play on the Monday - should mean Marat plays on the Tuesday - just suggestions the order of play should be out later!

Off the thread ... greetings from a warm, but cloudy London. Perfect weather for a pasty-faced Scot. Hope it stays like this and I can avoid getting fried in the sun. In my traditional Wimbles warm-up routine, I'll be having dinner in 222, a veggie vegan restaurant in North End Rd. Looks like a student cafe from the outside - the food is amazing. Check out the menu at www.222veggievegan.com. If you visit London and want a delicious reasonably priced meal, thoroughly recommend it. I don't get a discount for this promotion - just love it when you get a real 'find'. Back to tennis ... if my Big Pixie meets up as planned with Andy in the fourth round, anybody know a tout that won't make me sell the house for a ticket ... Kiddin'. I'll need to go scout out Jesse. Better go try to get a pic first so I can recognise him. Illy - give me a tip-off when he's out on the practice court ... Anybody know how he plays? Being a lefty, probably has a bit of disguise on the serve. FG

I saw Levine play at an exposition match here in Atlanta vs. Andy Roddick... he was pretty good - was able to absorb Andy's power and return a fair amount of shots... in the end, he couldn't handle Roddick's serves or his far superior shot making ability. Marat should be just fine. Here's a pic so you can scope him out Have fun Mary - can't wait to hear all about your experience and see all your pics!

Well, not long to go until I hit the old pavement. My Big Pixie must be playing on Tuesday. Fancied going to see Dimitrov play, but I think he'll be on at the same time. Will wander round to the practice courts at lunchtime when I get in. Any requests for pics of specific players tomorrow?

Half past frigging one, I finally got in! Number 7,999 in the queue, despite getting here for 9am. And my Blackberry is playing up. Can't send text messages - only managed to get in to this site because I somehow managed to log on to Vodafone - after the blackberry wiped address book, diary, email account ... One bonus will be that I can't access any work emails now! Anyway, welcome from a warm and cloudy Wimbles, day one. I've parked myself at the practice courts before I launch myself through the crowds.

Sod's law. Missed him. I'd just headed off to go into battle with the crowds. I lost. I'm now back at the back of the practice courts in hiding, and watching Davydenko practice. Horribly humid now. Think it's about to thunder ...

PS. Any news on when Jesse has a court booked?

That's the last racquet-bounce this fortnight, Big Yin ... Sitting on Murray Mount watching Noely battle it out. Looks a tough one so far.

PS I hear Maestro had a handbag. Was it rather fetching? LMAO. Got to hand it to him ... your turn Big Yin. Go for blue, it's your colour.
