It's so much fun starting threads - it's just such a shame they stay so short these days. Maybe we have to up the challenge: if Marat reaches the 3rd round I'll start watching him again, LMAO! Now THAT should give him extra motivation! I like the challenge, but i reckon 3rd Round is too much for Marat - give him a chance!

Hey we all just love whichever of you starts the thread as it keeps us informed and also gives us something to read Please don't fight about it LOL!! Seriously we would all love to see Marat keep these threads going for longer but at least we can enjoy a match or two each tournament if he stays healthy - let's rejoice at that. BTW when I say enjoy I really mean sit there like a nervous wreck while chewing fingernails to shreds - but hey that's called being a Marat fan ;D ;D

well i guess im guaranteed Madrid then arent i! Tommy Robredo - Yuk!!!!!! Safin coincidently is 3-2 in the H2H on clay but hasnt beaten Tommy since 2004 and there was that famous match against Robredo at RG in 2005 where Tommy got Lucky! I wont say a prediction to anger some but Good Luck Marat!

What has Marat been up to today??
Safin defeats Tipsarevic! Bet you weren’t expecting that one! Marat and Tipsy have just had a warm up on one of the practice courts, with the Russian serving up an absolute storm. He won the “match” with an ace and then playfully fired the spare ball he had in his pocket into the clear blue sky, landing somewhere in the Ferrero – Capdeville match (2-2 in the second there). The crowd applauded and he saluted them gracefully. Robin Soderling is also out having a hit-out at the moment as well.

This Morning in Rome
I went for a wander around the players’ area and the practice courts, and Marat fans will be pleased to know that the tall, broody Russian is through to the third round already! After defeating Janko Tipsarevic in a hit-out yesterday, he’s currently getting the better of Robin Soderling in an impromptu warm-up. He looks like he’s enjoying his tennis, does Marat, which is a relief. Last time I saw him was in the press room after the Masters at Bercy last November and he looked ready to pack it all in…

Bella bella! Hopefully two very long matches before my Big Pixie takes to the court to remind himself why he's still out there playing tennis. ;D Brain, hands and feet connect, Big Yin. No risk taking, and NO racquet smashing or arm-swinging. One mutter in Russian is all that's allowed. I will leave work sharp ... and expect to see a good solid display of clay-court tennis ... and a win. No faffing. FG
