No wonder his serve got worse and worse......I was puzzled looking at the scoreboard...... Get a good rest ! Doesn't matter it's a serious or minor injury, Marat should be careful. That knee injury nightmare got so terrible becuz Marat was negligent for several months. Being cautious is the right decision. He can't afford no more injuries. Sounds like he will be okay for US open. Good luck and DAVAI MARATIK!

from MTF smitty8 (volunteer at Legg Mason) about the match and neck injury www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=127866&page=29"I missed Marat's practice yesterday, but caught him as he was leaving. Couldn't get close enough for autographs, but he was signing and taking photos for a few minutes before going inside. I saw his match, not sure when he hurt himself but it must've been early on since he was grabbing at his neck almost from the start. He seemed to get a bit frustrated near the end of that first set, threw his racket, took another long injury time out where I had a terrific view (wait until I get the photos up), then it was over. I volunteered to give the neck massage as soon as I saw him grabbing his neck, lol."

My Big Pixie has hurt his neck? Ok, sorry I withdrew your fairy dust ... a bag is on its way. Rub it in and rest for the next week, pet. Funnily enough my neck and shoulder have been pretty sore the last few days. I thought I was getting a frozen shoulder again. Had one a few years ago, other side ... nearly 2 friggin' years it took to get back to a decent state. Still can't hold my arm straight up. Agony. Maybe I was getting sympathy pains ... Hope my Big Pixie has only strained it with his hard work over the last few weeks ... maybe I shouldn't have encouraged the doubles. Anyone up for giving him a neck and shoulder massage ... Calm down! It was a joke! ;D

I'd be happy to volunteer for giving him a neck and shoulder rub. Only in the interests of accelerating the boy's recovery process, of course...

He sounds pretty confident that he'll be OK for the Open, so, seems to be just a pulled muscle or something. Said he couldn't turn his neck and needed it to heal. I am more concerned about what this injury does to his (I imagine, diminishing) confidence. He has often talked about how playing more matches is needed to raise his confidence, and, having to bow out before a grand slam can't be good for his mind set...
