I have to say that I'm really happy to see him play doubles. It keeps him match tight. It didn't do McEnroe any harm - he opted to play doubles instead of too much in the way of practice as it gave him a better workout and sharpened his reflexes.
If the Big Yin was in a Slam, I'd expect he wouldn't play doubles - but if he did, he could opt out when he wanted to concentrate on the singles. Bit of a bummer for his partner mind you ... ;D

Hi im new. Ive been a long time reader of the board but first time poster . Fabio Fognini- Lets hope Marat remembers their match at Wimbledon and channels some of that winning spirit! again. If Marat were to take out this tournament (im being an optimist, lets hop he does!) How many ranking places do you belive he would potentially go up?

Hi Cass - from a fellow newby to the forum - welcome! ;D
I agree, I really hope we can see a reprise of his Wimbles first round match against Fognini. Fingers crossed for our boy! ;D
Not sure what it would do for his rankings...perhaps one of our Marat Experts has done the calculations?

If Marat were to take out this tournament (im being an optimist, lets hop he does!) How many ranking places do you belive he would potentially go up? First of all, welcome!! ;D You will have lots of fun here that's for sure (plus some stress but we can cope with that ) As for ranking points, he would end up somewhere in the mid 20s if he wins, but lets take each round as it comes

Will there be a livestream for this? I've seen one match on my super dooper Broadband - LOL - and getting twitchy. SKY coverage starts at quarter finals stage. Ok Big Yin, I expect you to be there but I'd still like to see the route to it.

I'm troubled that once again there is no obvious livestream for this Can't find a bloody thing anywhere obvious like betfair/365 etc...does anyone else have any suggestions? We're wilting over here in the UK through lack of live Marat action

The players are pretty much the same of those in LA. Marat seems to have a nice draw here, IMO. Really hope that he passes round by round and builds up confidence coming to US open. I am glad he plays doubles. It doesn't consume too much energy and he gets to have more net/volley experiences. DAVAI MARATIK! and Welcome to TGFR, cass!! PS Taylor Dent is back on the tour? ps Dina, are you going to watch Marat?
