Was actually a pretty close match but Andreev kept his cool better - and he served terrific. Only 3 BPs for Marat and not a single conversion... Still, improvement compared to his first match was visible. Now he can concentrate on winning the Doubles title ;D

Thanks for the pics - I see a broken racquet in the last one...oh dear, does this mean Marat lost his cool then? Following the scoreboard, I really thought Marat would win the 2nd set... oh well. DiMarat for the doubles title ;D

Hope that he keeps his cool in upcoming masters series !!

For some reason I love this pic. A lot of emotion in it.

Do my little fairy eyes deceive me, or is that a smashed racquet I see before me? WHY?!? I bet it was close and you blew a gasket! The point of that was? Let off steam by upping a gear on the shots, don't smash the friggin' racquet. Ain't you noticed yet boy that when you let rip like this you invariably lose the match? Yer arse will get kicked by me the next time I see you. I'm taking a week off and plan to watch the Madrid tournament. I expect a better frame of mind. A positive frame of mind. Your penalty is to ensure that the team on Cho Oyu get the champers and the hotel! And where's my bloody shorts? Signed Fairy godmother Scunnered PS Don't let me see photos of you in Club Hell tonight or I'll be REALLY pissed off.

This was the first time when I actually kind of felt good to see a smashed racket from him...I was watching him and wondering if he's still alive out there...his head was most of the time down, he missed almost everything (he won 14% of the net points if I'm not mistaken, only 28 UE but he did not play too agressive, so taking that into account, he missed quite a lot in 2 sets). he was serving resonably well, but that was it, I guess....I am not an expert, that's true, but I followed most of his matches this year and I could see his level of play dropping gradually from the beginning of the year, when he was not at his best anyway. I know not much could have been expected from him, since he was out for six weeks, but that's the way he played and looked in Cincinatti and even US Open: out of shape and out of confidence, dissapointed of himself....I wonder if it really does him good to continue playing till the end of the season, while he's sort of expecting to lose his matches: it is true that he lacks match practice, and not playing anymore this season would obviuosly not help in this respect, but on the other hand continuing to lose and play like this (quite badly and dissappointing for him and not only him) cannot help his confidence, that's for sure...

Oh...I'd hoped that actually watching the match might have been a more positive experience than following the scoreboard but obviously not. I hate to think of his head down during the match - it's something I can't understand in players as it gives such a boost to the opposition (as a Scot I can't stand watching Andy Murray for the same reason!). It just seems to be that Marat will deliver when he actually REALLY decides he's committed to the rest of his career. I'm going to go to bed now and hope I'll feel more positive in the morning!

The first three Men's semi-finalists are - Tipsarevich, Berrer and Mathieu What's wrong in Moscow? This must be the worst line-up EVER (sorry to any fan of any of the three players, LOL )!!! At least the Ladies are holding up the Russian pride: Safina, Dementieva and Kuznetsova are through. Edit at 7:20 pm: Add Davydenko and Serena. The Semis are complete.
