My bet for this tournament is a russian winning it - without the qualifiers - 1/4 of the draw will be russians - hopefully the draw pans out nicely and they all meet in the QF
Hope Marat will play but i could see him pulling out last minute - anyway im sure all you girlies will have fun packed days in the kremlin!
Safin to make his return in Moscow next week
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Marat Safin will make his return to tennis at next week's Kremlin Cup, ending a self-imposed two-month layoff, tournament organisers said on Wednesday.
The former world number one, who has not played since losing in the second round of the U.S. Open, was given a wild card by the organisers of the $1 million indoor tournament, which starts in Moscow on Monday.
The Russian has struggled with form and injuries since winning his last title at the 2005 Australian Open.
He took a break from the game to refresh himself and was scaling mountains in the Himalayas last month.
"I felt like I needed to take my mind off tennis for a while," the 27-year-old Muscovite, who has yet to triumph at his hometown tournament, told reporters.
"Hopefully this will be my year, although I can't make any promises," said the 27th-ranked Safin, who lost to his Davis Cup team mate Nikolay Davydenko in last year's Kremlin Cup final.
The Russians are hoping Safin will be fit to lead them in the Davis Cup final against the United States to be played in Portland from November 30 to December 2.

So it officially went from "I injured my wrist and can't play for 6 weeks" to "I felt like I needed to take my mind off tennis for a while" He's just like all those other jokers out there - Djokovic having a "bad back" in Bangkok, Roger being "exhausted" after Davis Cup in Tokyo... Shouldn't and doesn't surprise me since ATP regulations don't give the players any other way out of playing (no burn-out syndrom allowed in tennis yet). Still, I'm old-fashioned; I like honesty, LMAO BUT: The tgfr girls will see him and that's great! I'm happy for you ladies, cheer him on! He has tons of points to defend, he needs all the help he can get! ;D And on a personal note: I'm an "expert" now, YAY! I feel sooo mature all of a sudden, LOL ;D

LMAO. I told you that the clean air had cleaned out the cobwebs and worked a miracle on the injury. The fairy dust might help him fly to the net more often as well. ;D Belief - we all need it ... PS Hey, we're getting a new tennis tournament: Tennis Scotland and Culture and Sport Glasgow, proudly present The Glasgow Tennis International and The Glasgow Festival of Tennis at Scotstoun Arena from Sunday 14th October to Sunday 21st October 2007. I can go and watch some 10 year olds and pick out the next Andy Murray.

presence at the Kremlin cup was confirmed by the OS as well:
03 October 2007
Great News. Marat has spent the last few days practising with Hernan Gumy and he is feeling fit. So especially for his Russian "home" fans Marat wants to have an early try out at The Kremlin Cup which starts next Monday 8th October. He requested and was given a Wild Card for the Kremlin Cup. It will be good to see him back on a tennis court.
