THE HOPMAN CUP IS UNDERWAY.
Argentina battle to opening win
Argentina opened their Hopman Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Italy. Guillermo Coria and Gisela Dulko teamed up to beat Francesca Schiavone and Davide Sanguinetti 6-1 7-6 (7-4) in the deciding doubles encounter.
Schiavone had beaten Dulko 6-1 6-3 in the opening match before Coria hit back with a 7-5 6-0 win over by Sanguinetti.
On Monday, favourites Russia will hope to keep up with Argentina in Group A by beating Germany while in Group B, hosts Australia play Slovakia.
Defending champions the United States open against the Netherlands on Tuesday.
