Marat and Irakli Labadze are playing doubles today. Marat is doing a wrong thig by playing doubles now. Even considering that it's Russia and irakli is his best friend.

Maybe it's good for keeping his volleying up as good as it was last week or even improving? Naah, and if you think about getting tired - he shouldn't be too tired, at least not yet!

LOl Damita, rigtht! Maratik is there! Now a short summary of the doubles match. I got home just in time. Marat/Irakli won 7-5, 6-4, good! Carlos Bernardes was umpiring. Peter & Walt are there with Marat, plus one maybe Russian friend. I know Marat's dad doesn't sit in the box, he likes to sit somewhere at the back, they showed someone like Misha from a distance but cannot really say. No comments from the commentator either. So the 1st set - Oliver served 1st and lost his serve, then Marat lost his, after that everyone held until Fish lost his to end the set. In the 2nd set only Fish lost his serve but that was enough. It was pretty entertaining match, quite a high level tennis I would say. Fish wasn't at his best though, made loads of errors, and Oliver couldn't help out. Marat made one spectacular successful shot from-between the legs and Marat/Irakli won the point. Many good returns from both Marat and Irakli, more than from Oliver/Fish in the end obvioulsy. A lot of spectators today enjoying great tennis and supporting Marat/Irakli. Tomorrow Marat will play at the same time - 19.00 local time. So I'll try to get home and sit at the TV screen tight. Got to go now. ALMOST HAD FORGOTTEN THE "BIGGEST" NEWS - MARAT HAD SHAVED!!!!! YESTERDAY OR THIS MORNING! OK plus a little snippet esp to Vass > Alex Metreveli (the commentator, maybe you know) said that he had talked to Walt & Peter in the morning and they had their doubts if Marat should play doubles with so many singles matches behind&ahead but as he was already commited he couldn't say no, and Marat looked fine, and it wasn't that hard tonight, just for one good training session. Irakli had said to Alex answering how seriously they are taking their doubles match that they wanted to win the Americans and were very serious. And yes, as someone mentioned, they have always done well in St. Pete.

Thanks Damita.
It's good that waalt and Peter are worrying about Marat's schedule too. Playing doubles was a mistake. Playing in St.Petersbourg might have been a mistake as a whole, forget about the double. He needs to rest more. He'll burn out before the Bercy tourney or worse: Houston.

Everyone here thanks me and i didn't say anything. You guys are funny ;D Vass>> i share your ideas about Marat playing the doubles. He wants do well in St Petersburg i guess, and then there's bercy, i'm afraid the doubles could be an error. I don't want him to get tired too soon (but uhm, i guess that's also because of a selfish reason, as i'll go in bercy only at the end of the week, i hope i'll see Marat in the SF ;D) Maria>>awww i didn't know about Mathieu . Sorry that you won't see him on tv. Btw we'll have videos of the matches here too? wooooooo, i love the sites of Russian tournaments!!! i hope i'll be around when Marat plays

Maria thanks for the doubles match update, glad you were able to see it.
Definately can't hurt, and Marat will know when enough is enough. This doubles session will have been excellent court practise. IMO he would have had more motivation to go out and playing this doubles session than going out to the practice courts. Either way he would have had to practice today and this IMO would have been the best method.
