Don't get me wrong Vassily, I'm new here, but really a vintage in tennis. As you know Marat have "On" and "Off" day. (If he's stable, he might not be our Marat.) Luckily, he's "On" in that first round match. But yesterday, he didn't do well with his service game, but not the "Off" day things. He almost broke his racket at the last game of the match. For the record, this tournament "Babolat" has gone before "Head" (Coz' Andy broke one last night at the end of Tie break in second set.) Tonight I plan to sms score to my friend, who promise to post live on web. Hope you'll enjoy the match as I will. I tried so hard to get Marat pic, unfortuenately, only staff and VIP guest can get close to the players. I'll try again tonight, wish me luck.

Well well if Marat wins tomorrow against Andy Roddick. I would put on a good bet that he will give Federer a run for his money(Assuming he gets to the final) And may actually win here

From yestrerday....
TOP SEEDS REACH QUARTERS, BUT DEFENDING CHAMP FALLS
The defending champion is out. Taylor Dent was beaten 6-0 6-4 by lanky Dutchman Dennis Van Scheppingen, a name long enough to give problems to the scoreboard operators.
Was it a surprise? Well, defending champions rarely defend successfully. Just because they win one year doesn't mean they have any better chance than the rest of the field the following year. Sometimes players do have events they play well in, such Andre Agassi at Washington. And often a player matches up well against another, such as Wayne Ferreira having a better record than most against Pete Sampras.
But Taylor did not play well in the first round, and he was even worse in the first set against Dennis. He won just eight points. In the second he at least stayed competitive, cracking down six aces. Points were short and each held serve easily, until it really mattered. But at 5-4 the fifth seeded American hit a double-fault to go down match point. He missed his next first serve, and Van Scheppingen sent his second serve back with such pace that Dent could do nothing with it. Match, and defence, over.
"Unfortunately, today was along the same lines as when I played Justin Gimelstob in the first round," said Taylor. "I was lacking a whole lot of confidence on my serve and he happened to play well. Those two things made that set. The second set, that's what happens when my confidence is low. When I play a guy that is really playing well then it's tough for me to win.
"I'm working hard, three hours a day on the practise court, but the only way to get confidence back is to win matches."
Marat Safin, a much more scoreboard-friendly name, continued to show an amazing degree of serenity as he reached the quarter-finals with a 6-3 6-4 win over Jiri Vanek. But the third seeded Russian had plenty of chances to explode as he found his opponent difficult to overcome.
Only one break of serve separated them in the first set, when Safin took a 4-2 lead. He had a set point too on Vanek's serve at 5-3, but hit a poor return. The second set was equally close, with Safin breaking to lead 3-2 and failing to win two more break points at 4-2.
It was later, though, that Safin could have lost his cool, as it took him eight match points to close out the match. He held two on Vanek's serve at 5-3, and six in the next game, when he also had to fight off two break points from the Czech.
Perhaps it was catching, because Andy Roddick needed seven match points to defeat fellow American Jeff Morrison. Now he had got over his jet-lag, everything about Andy's game was miles better than on Wednesday. He was sharper and more committed and looked as if he was enjoying himself.
In fact it was a match played in terrific spirit between two friends. And some of the tennis was spectacular, especially from the world number two but also from an opponent who fought all the way to the last ball.
After dominating the first set, Roddick was stretched in the second, failing to win the only break point of the set as he led 4-3. The set then went to a tiebreak, and a Roddick fan played a large part in him losing the tiebreak! Already down 3-0, he double-faulted when a lady called out between his first and second serves that she loved him. After he went on to lose the set, he smashed his racket in frustration before composing himself for the final set.
"At the end of the day the result is the same as if I'd won the first one," said Roddick, referring to the match points that got away. "We were having some fun out there. We appreciated that we were competing hard and had some good points.
"And the fans were great. I felt they were supporting both players, and they're coming out in big numbers so it's exciting. With that call from the stands, I was already down 3-0 and it didn't decide the tiebreaker, for sure."
Even Roger Federer had trouble finishing up against Ivo Heuberger, whose main claim to fame was that he dated Martina Hingis way back. There weren't loads of match points lost, but he did stumble a bit.
Roger was totally dominating his fellow-Swiss, who according to Roger was suffering from a bad tooth so really wasn't much up to tackling the best player on the planet. He was up 6-1 5-1, he'd lost four points on serve in the entire match, and then he dropped his serve on a double-fault. Ivo held for 5-3, but Federer then sorted himself out and finished off the match in the next game.
"I was happy all the way through. The game I got broken, it's no problem for me to accept that at 5-1," said Federer. "I was serving well, I was returning especially well. It was tough to play against another Swiss. I'm not used to that, and it was especially hard to keep focused and really close him out."
In the other big match of the day, Paradorn Srichaphan made a tremendous start against Alex Bogomolov Jr, winning the first set 6-0. But he kept the crowd on the edge of their seats in the second, needing to recover a break of serve before taking the set on a tiebreak 7-4. His next opponent is that chap with the long name.
