hey vlad. i've no idea what happened. but according to andrea, he missed lots of bp opportunities and roddick hardly had any. or DIDn't have any rather...cos marat was holding serve really easily.... I\m gonna check what Andrea wrote on the MTF, I followed the scoring there and both guys had only 1 or 2 BPs on opponent's service games (Marat had one in the 3rd set and missed it), the TBs on the other hand were very strange. With 1, 0 and 2. People said in the 1st set Marat looked a bit better but he lost the TB, in the 3rd I would say Andy had more points on Marat's serve, Marat probably got tired and lost his concentration and temper in the decisive TB. I hope he can get over his disappointment pretty fast, relax next week and get ready for the Kremlin Cup. As there won't be any other Top 10 players in Moscow I hope he can get a good rhythm there and win the Kremlin Cup finally. I'm so devastated I won't be able to see the Kremlin Cup tourney either! HUGE thanks to Jasmine for the report and the others for pics etc. Could you Jasmine say how his mood was right after the match, was he very down? I really hope Marat didn't lose the positive attitude! It was a great match, good fight till the end and there's no shame to lose to Andy! I hope Marat has the right people around him now who can say the right words to him!

WOW.....tie break in every set, can't get closer than that!! I would definately have to say that I am very proud of our habibi And as MariaV said my thoughts exactly. Also big big thanks to everyone for all the updates, info, pics, news etc you have been terrific, its just been incredible. Have a great week everyone, look forward to seeing you at the Kremlin Cup ;D

some comments on SF from ATP.COM www.atptennis.com/en/newsandscores/news/2004/bangkok_saturday.aspSafin: This kind of match is like a lottery. I felt like he didn't feel any pressure because he went for his second serve a lot, and I just couldn't create anything. I took my opportunities, I tried everything, I played my game, there were very close points on his serve, but he went for it with no pressure. If one or two points went differently it would be a different story. He probably doesn't feel pressure because he's qualified for Tennis Masters Cup and he made semis here and probably wasn't worried too much about losing.? If I could make Tennis Masters Cup, that would be great, but I have achieved my goal by making it back into the top 10.? It seemed that he felt much pressure on the court in order to march into Hoston, but anyway he'll take a break next week, and hopefully he'll feel relaxed during the time, after next week, he'll play straight 4 weeks, that's a huge work anyway, Have a good time, Marat!!! PS:Also, thanks a lot to Olive, she was very helpful and thoughtful, sent to us the very latest info on the court about Marat. BIG HUG!!! :-*THANKS VERY MUCH!

have gaudio and coria been playin recently or r they going to play.becoz last i heard that gaudio was injured. if this is true if marat keeps playin well he has a good chance of makin it to houston. gaudio has a slender lead over marat in the champions race.

From www.atptennis.com/en/newsandscores/news/2004/bangkok_saturday.asp Hard hitting was the order of the day in the second semifinal, as all three sets went to a tie-break before Andy Roddick came away with a 7-6(1) 6-7(0) 7-6(2) over Marat Safin.
It was an incredibly even match, as both players faced just one break point, both fired 18 aces, and both put in just shy of 60 percent of their first serves. They began the third set tie-break just as the match crossed the two-hour mark.
Roddick leads all players in 2004 for tie-break wins with a 32-10 record.
Along with his title two weeks ago in Beijing, Safin's run to the semifinals will help him remain in the top eight of the INDESIT 2004 ATP Race and in the running for one of the four remaining spots for Tennis Masters Cup in Houston this November. See? How good Marat is! For the record, he didn't lost his service game in this tournament. Keep going. Hous ton is yours!!

Federer beat Roddick againnnn easily 6:4 6:0. I hate you Andy. If you were to play like that bad in the final, you should not have won the semifinal and I'm sure Marat would give a more entertaining and close match!

such amazing scores of the final. Andy really can't beat roger in a short period, so if gives marat chance he'll do that, even not, he can give more pressure on ROGER, sigh

Federer is such an awesome player that its difficult to meet his standard consistently. Wonder what the result would have been had Safin been in the final?
