Nice start of tournament for the best ranked argentine players . 9 (Nalbandian, Monaco, Gaudio, Chela, Cañas, Zabaleta, Calleri, Coria and Acassuso) entered the tournament, 5 are still on the run (Nalbandian, Gaudio, Chela, Cañas, Coria). Unfortunately, Monaco´s second round match was against David (Nalbandian). Juan was defeated by David 6-2, 6-1. Auch!! That aches!! Chela and Cañas were seeded, so their second match in Indian Wells is the third round match. It can be a great match between them! It´s sad someone has to leave the tournament right now, but, that´s life (and draws)!! The others third round matches for argentine players are: *Nalbandian - Bjorkman *Gaudio - Kiefer *Coria - Srichapan (I know Paradorn seems to be a great person, but please, please loose ;D ;D. Not another humillating score against him for Guillermo ;D ) *Chela - Cañas (all-argentine match.... another one )

you have all your argentina players covered lau, what are your predicitions for them in this tournie looking at the draw. That´s really difficult!!! I´m not good at all making predictions. I can tell you what I would like to happen and some little predictions....not very precise ones ;D *David: wins his next match (although he´s having an unpredictable beginning of the year because of the animic aspect that we discussed previously). I would love a Nalbandian-Safin semifinal, although Roger is in David´s part of the draw... So, I would love to watch David or Marat beating him (Remember that Roger may face Ljubicic who´s in a great moment ) *Gaudio: You never know what could happend with him. He´s not a good hard court player at all, he never had really good results in this surface. So, he may win his next match, but not the fourth round match in witch he may face David.... But as I said previously, you never know what could happen with him. Everything is about confidence with him. He´s not confident in this surface.(It´s a player I would recomend to watch on clay: sometimes magnificent, sometimes a disaster, pure temperament.... You never know what to expect of him. This are the players I like!!! ;D Definitively he´s got what it takes to be a top 10 player. It´s my point of view, you may disagree...) *Cañas and Chela: Guillermo (Cañas) beats Chela and in the next round Marat beats Guillermo (sorry to all argentine and Guillermo´s fans, I really think this will happen ) But we should keep in mind that he´s back in shape, he´s a fighter and in 2002 the won Toronto TMS (hard court). It will all depend on Marat if a Safin/Cañas match happends.... But, c´mon, it´s Safin´s time these days!! ;D *Coria: I really don´t know. He was awfully beaten by Paradorn in a first round match in Marseille (not sure about the tournament). That may be good for him. He wants revenge ;D ;D I think he can do it quite well in the tournament..... We´ll see. His draw is not difficult at all!!! The only player that could be a difficult one till semifinal (in my opinion) is Agassi.

thank you for an answer to my question.
I bet it is a whole lot easier predicting what is going to happen on clay than on hard.
JUst out of curiosity i would not be surprised if Canas upset Marat as Canas is a quality player and made Marat work in TMS last year. okay i would be upset but Canas can beat him.

So, this is what happened yesterday.... *Nalbandian - Bjorkman: David won 61 36 61 . It was a really, really strange match. It was said on tv, by a commentator(is this the right word?) that David chatted with him previously to DC and said that he could not separate his father´s death from his tennis, "his face comes to him" . That seems logic, and that may be the reason why I think David played not so good in his second set. And it was SOOOO WINDY!!! What counts is that he won and he´s in the next round (against Kiefer). I would really love to see David holding the trophy..... As I say, that may be difficult but it´s possible *Gaudio - Kiefer: Boooooring match. A bad day for Gastón (Gaudio). He had a bandage in his low abdominal muscles due to his recent injury (this are his first matches since Mexico and he couldn´t play DC), but didn´t seem to be the problem. I think he got a little bored during the match (it´s my opinion) and he had no confidence at all. And, let´s face it, IT´S NOT HIS SURFACE DEFINITIVELY!!! He lost in third round, but he won his previous match against Myrni in this surface!! (I try to find the possitive aspect of all this ;D ;D. Plus, he can dedicate more time to his new girlfriend now ;D )Kiefer will face David in next round (and David will win ;D ;D ). The result of Gaudio´s match: 63 61 *Coria - Srichapan: I haven´t seen the match. Coria won (REVENGE ;D ;D ;D )6-4 - 6-2 (although in the Indian Wells open site the score is 75 62. It´s the only place were this score is. Once more, the IW site, a disaster with scores and results.... ) *Chela - Cañas (all-argentine match that will be played today) The last thing: GOOD LUCK MARAT!!!!! Tiene que ganar y aplastar a Federer!!!!

Thanks Lau for all the Argentine updates, I love reading your reports!! R you getting these matches live on ESPN Latin America? or one of your local stations? I wish we could get more coverage, our ESPN sucks it really does. And YES>>>>>>>>>> good luck Marat We will actually get to see this match cause of Dent I´m glad you like my reports, Teresa The answer to your question: Yes, ESPN Latin America broadcasts Grand Slams and Master Series tournaments (all of them). Most of the matches they broadcast are from latin players (spanish and latin americans) or Agassi, Roddick, Federer......( ) I would like more of Marat´s matches, but, here in Latin America, ESPN is ESPN too ;D ;D But if Marat reaches QF or SF the match will be surely broadcasted Fortunately, today ESPN broadcasts the Safin-Dent match at midnight!!!! ;D ;D The other tournaments can be broadcasted by local stations. Obviously, not all of them and mainly the ones where latin players are (clay). On weekends they usually broadcast semifinals and finals of some tournaments.... This news is not about an argentine player, but is about one I really adore. Good luck Guga in the future!!! You deserve it ;D link: www.eurosport.com/home/pages/v4/l0/s57/e7332/sport_lng0_spo57_evt7332_sto697739.shtmlGuga parts with Passos
Former world number one Gustavo Kuerten has decided to end his 15-year partnership with coach Larri Passos and to go solo. The three-time French Open, who is struggling to regain his form after two hip operations in three years, has not played since the U.S. Open. In a joint statement Monday, Kuerten thanked Passos for "15 years of conquests,'' adding that he wanted "a different experience and travel without a coach.'' "They were 15 wonderful years. I have accepted Guga's decision and I think he is mature enough to follow his own path,'' added Passos in the same statement. The 28-year-old insists the pair will remain close friends having deliberated over his decision for some time before informing Passos of his desire to travel alone. "Even not having him by my side, on the day-to-day life, everything I do will have Larri's 'hand', because it was him who first believed in me and made me the player that I am," Kuerten said. "And even though we don't have the professional relationship anymore, the love and friendship we have for each other will remain. He is like a father to me and I hope we both keep succeeding in our careers." Under Passos, Kuerten won 20 tournaments and topped the ATP ranking for 43 weeks.

Cañas d. Chela 75 26 64 only because he´s a fighter and Chela had no confidence. Guiilermo (Cañas) is injured in a knee and it seems is very painful and uncomfortable to play tennis. So, I guess Dent will win this one too. I hope not, but.... The Cañas-Dent match is today... Other argentine matches for today: * (5)G Coria (ARG) vs (9)A Agassi (USA) That´s tough!! * (10)D Nalbandian (ARG) vs (29)N Kiefer (GER) You can do it David!!!! Now that Marat lost I´ll be cheering for David. Vamos David (or Cañas, but that´s a remote possibility)!!

The results: (9)A Agassi (USA) d (5)G Coria (ARG) 64 61: I like to think that Coria didn´t lost his match, Andre won it!! ;)What a player, and he is almost 35!!! (14)G Canas (ARG) d (30)T Dent (USA) 63 ret. (stomach virus) : I haven´t watch this one. That´s good luck for Guillermo!!! ;D Remember, he is injured in his knee, so I wouldn´t be surprised if he is defeated by Henman... Anyway, he is the last argentine player in the tournament.... (29)N Kiefer (GER) d (10)D Nalbandian (ARG) 61 63: I wached this one. The only thing I can say is that I though I was having a deja vu. It looked like the Safin-Dent match but it wasn´t played by Marat or Dent!!! I hope he can do it better in Miami... I don´t have much interest in this tournament now... Unless Cañas wins I´ll have to wait....
