no offense pau but if canas doesnt fire from the word go. federer will just do the thing that comes natural to him . I must say he played really well against henman.

I can't really see Canas winning this one unless Federer has an off day, he just doesn't have a weapon to really hurt Federer. Hopefully Canas can pull the upset off

Hopefully Canas can pull the upset off It would be something if Canas can pull of an upset but i agree its unlikely, but I think Canas will give it eveything, could be a fun match. I am looking foreward to the Roddick Hewitt match and expecting an exciting match, hope my expectations are not too high, hope Hewitt can win.

i too cannot wiat until roodick hewitt but i feel hewitt has got the formula to beat him as he has done previously in Houston and AO where this has put roddick completely of course

ok, this is the result: Federer defeated Cañas 63, 61 Good match of Guillermo, but Federer was better . So,.... Good luck to all argentine players in Miami!!!! And good luck to Marat too!!!! (of course )

Edgardo Massa is the only argentine player in the qualifing draw of the Miami TMS. Good luck Edgardo!!!! I think 11 are enough ;D ;D ;D No, really, they are not so many players as it seems.... I have some theories about the argentine tennis, but... you know... I´m not an specialist Anyway, I think it´s an important number for a southamerican (this means economic crisis in most of the cases, and tennis is not a cheap sport) country with a population of 37 millions Beggining to play profesional tennis in Argentina is very difficult. I supose in many countries is like that or more difficult. On the other side you can have the spanish example. In Spain tennis is much more (really A LOT MORE) organized. (Marat is an example of this situation). I guess (as I am not a pro player) the beginning of a profesional career requires big sacrifices. But in some countries sacrificies are bigger as it is an economic sacrifice for your family, too..... Anyway, ...... I don´t know what`s my point ;D ;D ;D What I meant to say is that (and this is a personal opinion) 11 argentine players in top 100 is a big number in this circumstances. Specially in a sport that is not a sport of masses (another personal opinion ;D), ....at least in Argentina. I am doubtful about the possibility that this level of argentine players can be maintained in time as Spain has done it. This is one of my theories ;D. I´m not 100% sure about this.... many things can happen in the future I hope this is not very boring for you ;D And sorry for my writting. It´s hard for me to express myself in written english BTW, Edgardo Massa was defeated 61, 67(5-7), 26 by Andreas Seppi (Italy) in the first round of qualification. It´s a pity.. (Edgardo won 97 points and Andreas 96!!! and 3 break points for each! It seems it was pretty close!)

I really really don´t know what can happend...... I can give you some opinions after the first matches ;D As far as WTA is concerned I enjoy female matches, but not all of them (for me some of the first round matches are very boring). The other reason for this is that women matches are not broadcasted here. Sometimes finals, semifinals and some matches where argentines players are (there are not so many), so, I know very little of the WTA Tour. I wish I knew more.... What I really enjoy are doubles matches, but, again, there are not very oftenly broadcasted. I like a lot mixed doubles matches. I love Hopman Cup!! It´s a great tournament in my opinion!!! ;D Actually, Mariana Diaz Oliva is playing the qualification tournament. She needs to win just another match. ;D María Emilia Salerni (I think is Cañas girlfriend) lost her match She has been injured for a long time and she is coming back now with a lot of efford. In the main draw Paola Suarez is the 17th seeded. She is a GREAT doubles player with Ruano Pascual from Spain. They won several Grand Slams!! The only one they are missing is Wimbledon. She (Paola) has been injured lately, but she´s back now. They are the first ranked couple in doubles!! I heard an nice anecdote of her from a journalist. Some years ago, Paola was swindled and she had no money to travel to the tournaments. She was in Roland Garros and told to this journalist (a former pro player) that her next match was her last match as a pro player. That match was against Mary Pierce. She won that match and she could continue with her career!! Now she is the number 1 in doubles and is trying to improve her ranking in singles. This is destiny !! She started playing tennis in a club where his father worked taking care of the courts and other things there. I think is a very beatiful life story. Guillermo Coria and Coria´s father know her since she was little. They helped her a little in her beginning. Gisela Dulko (the female player of the argentine team in Hopman Cup) is the 29th seeded. I have a lot of faith in her. She stayed in USA (an sponsor payed for all) some years and nothing worked out for her. She was missing her family and was very melancholic. She returned to Argentina and she started to play better. Her brother is her coach now ;D. Thanks for all your oppinions lau!!! 11 is a great number, imo, of course, and, yes it is very difficult to play tennis in Latin America, well you talked about Argentina, but in Mexico it's very difficult too, that's why I suppose that in the rest of Latin America is hard too (please correct me if I'm wrong) We don't support tennis, well I do, here in Mexico, it's really rare to find a person who enjoys tennis outside the tennis club, and as you said tennis is a very expensive sport (at least here), anyway, we are very proud of the latin players, specially the Argentinians ;D

Bad day for argentine players, a really bad day... Some days ago (not sure about the date), Nalbandian lost (Acasuso lost against him in second round match), Cañas lost. And today Chela lost against Henman and Coria lost against Dent (Dent made me hate him ;D). Today at 7pm Mariano Zabaleta plays against Federer, and I said previously about the Cañas-Federer match: NO COMMENTS!!! I´m deciding if I´ll watch the match, because it can be a really sad thing to watch The only one who won today (and if I´m not wrong, the only argentine player in the tournament, apart from Mariano till today´s night ;D ) is Gaudio. His next match is against Agassi. That´s a difficult match!!!! I know he can do it . But it will be difficult C´mon Gastón!!!!!! You can do it!!! (He´s my only hope to keep interested in the tournament after Marat, David Nalbandian and Cañas were defeated) A photo of Mariano Zabaleta when he won Bastad last year. He may not be as good player as Federer. But I´m sure he looks better without shirt ;D ;D ;D Enjoy it girls!!!
