MAIN DRAW IS OUT - MARAT SAFIN V STAN WAWRINKA - If he is lucky and wins Murray and Nadal are in his draw so i think he should sign for some doubles play this week! Draw can be found in the first post of this thread! Stan Wawrinka has won their only meeting in in US last year and not played on clay but Stan is currently in Barca SF so is playing well!

*whistle* draw is certainly nothing to sneeze at ... pretty tough all around right out of the gate sweet match-ups, and it'll start here at 7 am instead of 4 am -- Bring. It. On. ;D

thats why he should enter and win the smaller tournaments to get his ranking up. He keeps messing up on these golden opportunities to win these smaller tournaments to get his ranking up and get some match practice. because in the big ones, he runs into a top 10, top 5 player very early and has very little chance of advancing far in the draw. On a positive note, he has improved his form a lot since his loss to bobby reynolds in Miami

On a positive note, he has improved his form a lot since his loss to bobby reynolds in Miami I wonder whether Marat is the one to blame or not .......He has managers. Since the beginning of the year, his schedule has been mostly "last minute" thing. If you go check his OS, nothing really has been arranged . Since Djoko's management is the same, do they forget there's still Marat who has partnered with them for so many years? Some wild cards shouldn't have needed to apply, if they signed for him on time (valencia and memphis). He has only 5 WC quota per year........Those two tournys he didn't need WCs. I really don't know what's going on. Marat obviously has said many times he has prepared to play quallies or whatever to get as much match experience as possible which is something he hasn't been able to get this year....... Vamos Marat. Best of luck in ROME!

What is this about? Marat did enter and played all smaller tournaments possible - Memphis, Las Vegas, Valencia, Munich. And he entered Queens already as we know, so he will not have to ask for a WC. WC limit doesn't affect in Marat 's case.

davis, I know. It was not a smart move to miss entry-deadline and ask to WC. I meant to say that I don't see the point in "He should play smaller tournaments" as he does play them.

I meant he should actually should have won the smaller tournaments of valencia or munich, which would have boosted his ranking.

To justsafin: Marat surely hasn't said many times he's willing to play Qualis - he normally sees that as below his standard and the fact that someone actually talked some sense into him and made him be willing to play Qualis in Munich is quite amazing. Marat is definitely aware of the calendar, so he probably had his reasons for not signing up for the spring tournaments straight away. He's a grown-up who makes his own decisions. The management's job is to make his decisions become possible, not vice versa. davis, thanks for the explanation. ;D ;D Well, I didn't mean that many times. But at least recently, I heard he mentioned in press conferences. Maybe it's him who made all the decisions and management really tried as hard as possible to meet his needs. I simply want Marat to be happy and enjoy tennis while he is on the tour. I don't care what his ranking is. I became his fan when he was No 87 in 2004. His fame or ranking definitely didn't play a role on me at all. I just hope to see Marat flying like the first time I watched him play in Hopman cup. His game, which caught my attention at once, is free, wild ,pure yet passionate which I miss so much. I wish Marat and us fans to recapture that kinda feeling, Safin's unique style of game. Anyways, good luck and god bless him.

Cool. I can fit a day in the garden in as well! It's to be up in the 20s, so I should also get third degree burns. Amazing considering I was still wearing a scarf and gloves last week! Scottish weather ... Is that 8.30 in Rome then? What's that for the UK? About 6.30?
