Day 8: Marat's Day match vs. Lee

Today i was so excited cause Marat was playing!! i was 100x more excited cause my lovely ballkid manager person put me on stadium court for set 1. which meant that i got to do James blake's match AND Marat's match for sure! I must admit i felt a little burnt out from waking up so early every day and sleeping so late but hearing the goodnews that i was going to ballkid for Marat made me WIDdddddddde awake! Because it's quarterfinals and most of the players have lost and left theres less people to watch/stalk for us ballkids so now we kind of just walk around and do nothing. actually now i just eat a lot and get fat and hope i dont throw up on court! but anyways so the first match of the day started at 130 so my friends and i decided to walk around. We passed by Vince Spadea and i tried with all my might to send him bad vibes . Then i saw james blake and got my long awaited picture with him.

not after long it was time to go on court, OH yeah! and did i mention that they're filming this for espn2 so i was also excited and also nervous that i was going to be on tv. haha if anyone watched i was on..well i was in the corner with a boy across form me. but my friends saw me on tv! Ballkidding for this match was a little crazy because both Vince and James are a little impatient. They both say thankyou before the ball to rush you so i go crazy with all of those thankyous. I must say though that Vince's serve is a snail compared to James. Finally got of court when James won the set and went out to eat!

Marat's match was not scheduled before 3:30 so i had a lot of time after my first set. I was sad to find out that Marat already finished practicing when i got off the court! i didnt get to wish him luck! Because espn2 was there i ventured off to the Gameday desk and tried to get on tv some more haha even though its for a second its pretty cool.

Went to get good seats for Marat's match since i was doing the 2nd set and just so happened to sit next to the tournament directors daughter. hahah she just randomly asked us if we were really big Dmitry fans and then when we said yes she said "oh yeah hah he knows" so does that mean Dmitry knows us!? well im not sure if thats a good or bad thing oh well at least he knows we're a live! Dmitry is really popular with the ballgirls here hahah like.. a celebrity. more then marat even!

After Marat won the first set 6-4 i got on court and stood in front of him. Aww my little bumblebee! he drank all his water and powerade so i took his trash and then gave him a new bottle of each. My hand was about to freeze off becuse the powerade is like submerged in a cooler of ice that i had to dig through! Both players were playing really well it was such a close match! Lee would just not miss! Marat was playing really consistent and i thought that some shots would be sure winners but Lee just kept on getting them back. There was this one point where marat dived and layed on the floor for a while and i just wanted to give my bumblebee a big hug! but then i remembered that a ball was laying next to him so i had to go and run and get it.

During the changeovers our eyes met again hahaha. this time my friend was in back of him holding the umbrella and i couldnt keep smiling. Marat thought i was laughing at what was on the big screen so he turned around and looked. But then i was just really smiling at his godlyness!!

On another point marat got mad and then he screamed out really super loud his name like.. MARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!! it was reaaaaaaaaallly loud like crazy loud! and another point marat returned a out serve that could have easily chopped off my head! mmm on other changeovers got marat another powerade and he said thankyou and stuff and other hot stuff. even though i was huffing and puffing and like dying of thirst i never wanted to leave! but the set ended and i had to run off .

Oh yeah! and Marats sometimes picky about where the ballkids are. Sometimes if the net people get a ball and because there momentum is going forward they just keep running to the baseline and stay at the baseline position until the next point ( if its a service fault) but marat doesnt like that and always wants the net people to be back in there spot. so a few times Marat actually didnt serve until the other net person that worked with me went back! but that wasn't too bad i didnt mind that much because well... its marat!

I was so sad when he lost!! i can't believe he did a df on match pt! well actually i can but it sucks! i have a lot of videos of the match cause my friend took pics and stuff for me so ill post those later..

When marat left i said goodbye to him and he responded with the cutest "bye" ever!!! he smiled at me and looked directly at me and said "bye" ahhaha i know its simple, but it made me melt! and i think he's coming back tomorrow because we also asked him and he said "yeah yeah yeah"

Thanks heaps for the beautiful report and pics! Isn't that u were born in the "right time"... when i was a "ball kid" age, i hated tennis, since i saw Marat play, i am over "kid" age....lol ....hope u had fun there! thanks a million for sharing!

I saw you on ESPN on the blake-spadea match! I was jumping all over, how cool is to be there! I dunno how can u keep your face straight...I would totally miss the balls I'm so clumsy if I get nervous...u should get those matches so you can see yourself later. BTW Spadea lives in Boca Raton just as Roddick did in a while, Boca people has attitude...too much, I live near it and for some reason the can be mean sometimes, its a rich kid town so go figure...when we see somebody with attitude we say "ahh its a boca girl or a boca boy"
