Get in there guys if you're going! From the OS homepage.
07 January 2008 As we have reported Marat has been working very hard with his coach to be fit and ready for the new season. 2008 is a new beginning of a new season. It is therefore very important for Marat to have all the support from his fans at this new start at the Australian Open. We have organised 10 very large banners with Marat's photo and wording - Marat our champion and we need 10 Marat fans who will be at Marat's 1st round match to contact me urgently. Please note this is NOT for tickets - we cannot arrange those - you must already have tickets and be going to the Open.

atp report on Fed's illness: Federer Suffers Stomach Virus in Melbourne Roger Federer has picked up a stomach virus upon his arrival in Australia on Saturday. As a result the ATP World No. 1 has decided to withdraw from the Kooyong Classic, a traditional exhibition event, ahead of next week's Australian Open. The two-time defending Australian Open champion issued a statement on Monday, saying: "After arriving in Australia last Friday, I came down with a terrible stomach virus on Saturday and it continued to get worse over the weekend." "After trying to practise on Saturday afternoon, I went to see the doctors and they immediately performed a series of tests. The doctors have advised me that I should take a couple of days off and recuperate so that I am able to be 100 per cent for the start of the Australian Open. I hope to resume practice by the middle of the week." ALSO -- Haas has withdrawn (shoulder issues) www.sportsline.com/tennis/story/10563178Nikolay is named as one of the replacements, with another one to come

Marcos Baghdatis (is that how you spell his last name?) is replacing tommy haas. so not too bad then.
this morning they had a media conference for the classic and as i was walking home from playing tennis and then spending some time in the gym (with lubicic!-so wierd to have a world class athlete using the equipment that you want to use...) an official car almost ran me over as i was walking out of the gates. who should be in it but marat! so there is a claim to fame, i was almost run over by a car with marat in it!!!
thank god the tennis is back in town!
