ticky sweety I say Marat and Misha for singles because they are obviously both in great shape though Marat lost in the AO he played great tennis and never forget he's awesome when he plays DC! I say first rubber certainly Marat and second Misha! as for Kolya, sorry to say but he rarely gives his best for the country team! and yeah dimarat let's say they're the best doubles team though it can easily be Igor and Kolya! of course these are just thoughts, the captain will decide! ...ummm ok. Dina I get it ..and I do agree with you Marat always awesome when he play in DC.... ...but whatever Tarpischev decide..I always beside him ;D...cheer them on ....Dimarat Mitya Misha Kolya Igor and all Russian team

Word of wise lets not try and guess shamil's choice - he could play any 2 from the 4!!
Russia takes on Serbia in first round of Davis Cup
MOSCOW (AP) - Russia will try to extend its Davis Cup unbeaten streak at home when it plays Serbia in first round. Russia has not lost at home since the 1995 final, when Pete Sampras won all three of his matches to lead the United States to victory. Since then, the Russians have won 14 straight. But Serbia, led by Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic, will be a tough hurdle. Djokovic is 12-3 in the Davis Cup and won all three of his matches in Serbia's 4-1 win over Australia in the playoffs last year. «I had a great season in 2007 and I started fantastically in 2008, winning my first Grand Slam,» Djokovic said. «We will try our best to win, but the Davis Cup is a very specific competition. Janko Tipsarevic, doubles specialist Nenad Zimonjic and Viktor Troicki are also on Serbia's team. «It will be very difficult to play against Djokovic,» said two-time Grand Slam champion Marat Safin, who is back on the Russian roster. «We will be lucky to take just one point from him.Russia captain Shamil Tarpischev said Tuesday he has had little time to evaluate his players, but is pleased by their spirit. «All are on the rise and are playing good. So we will fight as we always did,» Tarpischev said. «Serbia is really a strong team,» he added. «But it doesn't mean that they are unbeatable. It's not a one-man match and Djokovic is not a faultless one. So we will play. Safin is 29-18 in the Davis Cup and won a decisive point in the final against Argentina in Moscow in 2006 to help Russia claim its second title. He missed the semifinals against Germany and the final against the United States last year because of poor form.
The Russian team also includes fourth-ranked Nikolay Davydenko, Mikhail Youzhny and Dmitry Tursunov. It will be the first time the best-of-five series in Moscow will be played on an indoor hard court _ eight previous matches were won on clay and six on carpet. «We've chosen a hard court because we all will continue to play in indoor hardcourt tournaments,» Safin said. The draw at the Luzhniki Indoor Arena is scheduled for Thursday. The opening singles are set for Friday, followed by Saturday's doubles and the reverse singles Sunday. The winner will play either Belgium or the Czech Republic the quarterfinals in April.

I'm not too big of a complainer (at least I like to believe that about myself, LOL) but this DC back-and-forth is starting to go on my nerves! Marat injured, Marat can't play, Marat cancels San Jose - Marat playing Doubles? You could write a novel out of the suspense that always surrounds Russian DC ties... There is never a dull moment ;D
