He will need to sqeeze in Top 50 to qualify for Rogers and Cincy, right? yh i believe its 48 the cut off point but deadline i do believe is 6 weeks before tournament so next week or 2 is all he got? I think it will be the WC request or maybe qualies again (mind you im not sure he would qualify directly for them too)

How high the ranking does it take to qualify then? Thanks in advance!!

you don't think he can get his ranking up to qualify for those events? I'm sure by wimbledon if he gets his ranking up, it'll be good. That means he has to do well in the Artios Championships. Come on Marat!

Worry about those things when they are actually a fact - who knows if he wants to go through that process again in the first place? Anyways, sign-in for Qualis is later than for the Main Draw so he can consider his options if he doesn't make it into the tournament straight away.

Come on Marat! Arvind: I love MARAT, no matter how his ranking is. He is inconsistent. He climbs Himalaya out of the blue. He has this unique character. That's him. I like just the way he is. Marat is Marat. Yet of course, I hope he could come back to the elite circle ASAP and injury free forever. I am very positive that he will gradually finds his form and gets back to where he deserves with his own hard work and Gumy's help. Just this time, I am being anxious becuz I as usual, booked the tickets to Cincy to cheer for him. And the ticket price is outrageous due to oil crisis. Time is ticking for the deadline of Cincy. I simply want to watch Marat play BADLY and write my fan report and share piccies with people, like I did in the previous two years. Annette: thanks for your explanation. Fingers crossed that Marat will Cincy and gain a lot of points !! Hey, there's no points to defend and it's a great opportunity that some players might skip Cincy this year for Olympic. DAVAI MARAT on upcoming tournys!! Sorry if I am off the topic......

Found this today, esp. for the Americans on this site:
"More good news for the locals: Safin will be back in town next month for the Legg Mason Tennis Classic 2008 (Washington). He committed to the tournament earlier today."

oh,thanks Anette
So he's going for back to back tournaments. Might be a little tiring especially if he reaches the higher rounds, but might as well pull out if he wants to (although i strongly doubt...)

With my usual lack of a sense of direction, when I said Basle I actually meant Bastad. Duh.
Going deeper ain't a bad thing. He's rested his bones enough for. 2008. LOL.
