Have just finished a really quirky book called 'Pies and Prejudice' by Stuart Maconie (I think he used to be a radio DJ here in UK). Very good - but I think you have to be a) British and b) Northern (North of England that is) to actually get it.

I'm now reading 'The Blue Hour' a portrait of Jean Rhys, by Lilian Pizzichini.
Rhys was best known for 'Wide Sargasso Sea', but had quite a compelling lifestory. From chorus girl to artist's model, to abandoned wife and hapless mother, three failed marriages, five misunderstood books to screaming drunk in suburban Beckenham, and finally to feted author in her twilight years.
Have only read a couple of chapters, but already can see the dysfunctional childhood that's likely to shape the adult ...
Good read so far.

Just finished Victoria Hislop's "The Island". A great holiday beach book, especially for those who love Greece

Just about to read Kate Mosse's 'Sepulchre' because I enjoyed Labyrinth and It's about Carcassonne which I plan to visit soon.
Anyone else read it? Is it any good? No doubt I will find out for myself soon - unless there are lots of neg opinions before I start to read.
