I'm reading "Blossoms in The Wind: The Human Legacies of the Kamikaze"
The title says it all...very interesting book. It's a historical and biographical account of the fallen and surviving special attack pilots during the 2nd World War and the stories behind the kamikaze attacks. It's a non-fiction but it has the pace of a lively novel but the true accounts and the real people involved make it a bit depressing and sad. It's like seeing the other side of the coin...
It's really good! Very educational too especially for those into history and war stories. I'm actually trying not to read too fast so as not to finish it yet. I'm having a case of separation anxiety ;D

Im currently obsessed with Aussie Football books; Including Football Journalist Matthew Hall's book 'The Away Game' which is an insight into how Aussie stars are making it big overseas and tells of their Personal Lives (Hello Lucas Neill!! ;D ) Also Ive just finshed another Journo's book: '7 Days in June' by Jessie Hall which is about our campaign in the 2006 World Cup and the history of Soccer in Australia.. which suprisingly is very interesting!!

Just finished reading Tom Clancy's Net Force(the first book of the series) ...why is it that they always make a Russian villain in those kind of books? Anyway, I've also started reading Sergei Lukyanenko's Twilight Watch...the third in his Watch series...

I'm in my classics phase now ... reading 'Forbidden Fruit, from the letters of Abelard and Heloise', translated by Betty Radice.
It'll end in tears.

Jumping in and out of 'The anti-ageing bible'. Nature's secret weapons against the ageing process.
Granted I'm doing it with a glass of red wine in one hand ... and a packet of dorritos in the other. Haven't yet reached the chapter where it recommends this ...
Nothing surprising in it so far - mainly advocates a veggie diet, which I follow anyway.
With any luck, I'll live until I'm 102 ... ;D The Big Yin has taken about 30 years off me so far though. LMAO. ;D

Just discovered this thread - don't know how I managed to miss it before. Perhaps I just don't always scroll that far down the page. Thanks maryb for starting it and for all your entertaining comments. I can just picture you with the wine and dorritos, waiting for that to turn up as a health tip. LOL!! ;D ;D I'm just re-reading Dr Zhivago - one of my all time favourites - so weepy in places. Can I help it if I'm just a big softee at heart?

I'm reading "The Russians" by Hedrick Smith who has won a Pulitzer in 1974 and a veteran New YOrk Times correspondent. It's about...well, the Russians and the Russian life...particularly in the 70's. So I think it's very very different from the Russia of today....but i suppose it's good for a little 'recent history' lesson...
