the first is La Haine starring vincent cassel and the second also staring him is Sur me livre (read my lips).
LA haine is my fav french film ever and it is about the lives of three boys who live in the surburbs of PAris and one of them is beaten up by the police and it goes on from there....i dont really want to say anymore bcos i dont want to spoil it.....but i love it!!
sur me livres is a really clever thriller about a deaf girl who can lip read. one day she see a crime/heist take place and using her lip reading talent gets involved!!! this too is a great french film!!!!
both foreign films are great and if u have not enjoyed them yet then i hope u do if u decide to watch them!!!!!!!!!

I watched Departed a few weeks ago too, best movie i have seen in a very long time ! ! Now i know why i had a crush on dicaprio when i was little. He is excellent at what he does, acting. Top movie, go watch it now.
Last night i watched ' a love song for bobby long' staring john travolta and scarlett johansson (check spelling coz im no good at spelling lol). It was a great movie, very down to earth and simple but moving. I cant really explain it, but i highly recommend it, also one of the best movies i have seen in such a long time.
casino royale is getting great reviews, i really want to watch it but have not had the chance to yet... daniel craig *DROOOL!!!* so what if he is a blonde bond! hehe.

Watched "Casino Royale" and I must say Daniel Craig makes a great bond. The movie is as always funny most of the time but Bond in it is more human than in the others, more emotional and stuff. I had fun watching it so if you want your brain to rest, have a good giggle and drool over Daniel Craig in a tux - go watch it ;D

OK...for those of you on a foreign language film kick...I've been watching a lot of Italian movies lately... 1) L'ultimo Bacio by Gabriele Muccino - this is a movie about a group of thirty somethings and centers around one main couple...Carlo and Gulia and their friends. There is also a storyline invoving Giulia's parents. Basically it's a look a life and how people find themselves in certain situations and the choices they make. I liked it. It's kind of like an italian romantic comedy with a bit more hand waving and curse words than the average meg ryan flick. Worth watching. 2) Romanzo Criminale- I loved this. Its directed by Michele Placido. A brilliant film about a band of friends that turned deliquent early and when they grow up have the bright idea of taking over the crime world in Roma. It happens in the 70's and is based on real events. Very well done and I highly recommend it. I also discovered Kim Rossi Stuart in this film (you'll hear more about him in a bit) who played Freddo. Very strong performance from him in particular. 3) Anche Libero Va Bene- this film stars and is directed by Kim Rossi Stuart. It's good but not exceptional. It's a family drama about a father raising his two kids on his own. Their mother is a total head case that comes traling in and out of their lives and basically it's about this complicated relationship that the kids, particularly the little boy Tommi has with his parents. It's full of the Italian flare for dramatic confrontations. It's quite a subtle film. The most interesting parts of it, I think are the things that don't get said. Worth a watch but maybe wait for the dvd. And lastly...not an Italian film but surely one of the weirdest movies i've seen in a while. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it...the Black Dahlia...what a bizarre film. I left the cinema completely and totally perplexed. Almost as bad as Vanilla Sky *shakes head* that is defintely not worth spending time or money on in my opinion. That's it from me.

I think the Bond girl was especially beautiful in Casino Royale. Good pick. Did anyone here see Before Sunset and Before Sunrise? They are magical movies. The chemistry of the actors - Ethan Hawk and Julie Delphy is amazing. The sript is wonderful. Just magical, I tell you.

I am so glad you saw it! Proves that it was not in my imagination - like all my friends assumed. Before Sunrise is the first part. Before Sunset is the second one - you know, they had an appointment established...but I most certainly will not give anymore details, don't want to ruin it.

Woah, i forgot about those two movies, taboo! thanks for reminding me ;D ;D I loved both. I remember watching before sunrise on tv one afternoon years ago and i was totally hooked by the relationship between the two characters. I kept thinking how awesome would that be, to go walking around Vienna carefree. I also really enjoyed before Sunset, but Sunrise was my favourite of the two films ;D ;D ;D
