The referees in general really need to get it together because after the Holland game yesterday and this one today Yup, totally true. I just saw a statistic on TV: This world cup has already broken the all-time record of red cards during world championships - 23 in 52 matches! The same goes with yellow cards, although I didn't memorize the number (somewhere around 255 I guess). Feels more like American Football than soccer...

Yeah, Holland is a great team and you have amazing players The last time they play, Portugal won but it was a tough match too... Tonight I hope it will be a great show so good luck for both teams That win the best It wasn't the great show we hoped for, that's for sure I just think the one person who truly deserved a card, whether its yellow or red, is that referee!! Well, I'm completely sad for our team but good luck to Portugal in the next match.....and that Ronaldo will be fine soon You're right Myrella, it wasn't the show we expected... The referee lost the control of the match, 16 yellow cards and 4 red it's a record of cards in a world cup. After the match I was happy with portuguese qualification(I think we played better but we have a lot of luck too) but very annoyed with the match. Next, England Costinha and Deco are out and Ronaldo is in doubt. I really hope he recover for saturday. Thanks for your good luck, Myrella We will need it For today's mathes: GO SPAIN! GO BRASIL!

Seriously though, I am not gonna defend Ivanov because I am Russian or anything...but they played like savages!!! Both teams...and he overlooked a few very serious faults in my opinion...the amount of cards is not really his fault...yesterday I watched a huge programme about this match and people criticising Ivanov but then one of the football experts came with a book of rules of FIFA and it turned out that every single card Ivanov gave was in accordance with FIFA regulations.... I am not siding with anyone here but this is far from being fair play.... violence is not the key to victory.... both teams should really be ashamed of themselves Maniche's goal was beautiful though ;D

yep maniches goal was supreme...definately but i think it up to the ref to have control of the game and he didnt!! england are bit hopeless at the moment they ahve such good players but dont seem to put it together!! i am not sure how they are going to survive against portugal...although without deco and maybe figo (not sure what has happened after his head butting incidence!!!) they stand a chance!!! lets hope that rooney has laid off the the german sausages this week i hope ghana put up a good fight tonight!!!!

While I do think that the ref lost control of things, the players have to accept thier part of responsibility. If they don't act the fool then the ref doesn't have to punish them does he?
