According to the site-maker, the name Marat comes from french culture (I suppose from revolution, the guy killed by Charlotte Corday...), so it's not arabic because a few lines below you can see "mypat" (so murat) which is the tatar (and turkish) version of "murad", arabic name. Everybody (and I'm sure Marat himself !) thought that Marat was the tatar version of arabic name murad (which meaning is 'desire, something you wish'), it seems not to be that.

well, I think there are so many sources and explanations where the name of Marat comes from  . There are so many other names were you'll find in so different countrys. (like Malena it is an old norwegian name and also spanish) So I think only a languages expert can give us an correct explanation of it. ;D |

 Hi ladybird!! I don´t know russian, so I can´t check that site... But I´m almost sure Marat said in an interview that his name was not in any way related to Jean-Paul Marat (I know I read it somewhere..., will try to find the interview), and that his name was a typical tatar name.  And I know for some French fans that the whole rumour about Marat´s name being related to french revolutionary Jean-Paul Marat was started by french journalists. So..., summarizing, LOL, Marat´s name hasn´t got any relation with Jean-Paul Marat. About how the name is written (and/or said) in russian, tatar, etc, etc, etc I can´t really say nothing. I know Annie talked about it, but my memory is a disaster and I don´t even remember when ;D  |
