Are the Russian newspapers happy with Nikolay's place in the semi's at the Masters They are ecstatic ;D Nikolay is currently a national hero for his success this season: he was 28th last year and he finished 5th this year, so yes, everyone is very happy about it ;D

Well you see it really depends on the family. Tartar names are very different to typical Russian names but some Tartars name their kids with Russian names and some Russians name their kids with tartar names if they like it but that's quite rare actually... Most popular tartar names are arabic names because of the Muslim origin, so very typical names are Marat ;D, Rasheed, Mubin ;D, Mugafar, Altan, Rabit and many more. Female names: Agli, Rumiya, Rausa ;D, Agniya, Laisa, Lazima, Sabriya and others.

Hey there Annie/Lena,just wanted to know if there are many Chinese people in Russia because China is so close to Russia and where do most of the immigrants in Russia come from? hey there sweetie ;D I am sure lena knows a real lot about Russia, she's proved that on too many occasions but just so you know i16.photobucket.com/albums/b48/AnnieRussia/Smileys/rumour.gif [/img]lena comes from Germany Re: your question. No, there are not many Chinese living in Russia. You see alsl the way I see it personally Chinese society is established in such a way that not many people actually immigrate, so not really. As for immigrants, Moscow has a lot of them coming from other former Soviet Union republics. People seem to think that they have a better chance of making it out there if they move to Moscow. There are also quite a few people from former Yugoslavia who ran away when the war started. Other than that, it's not all that much. There are much more people immigrating FROM Russia than TO Russia

Krasivaya Annie (="pretty Annie" for those who don't know) , can you post the link about tatar names pajaoulsta (=please) ? Even if it's in russia, I'll tried to understand something... For those who can speak french, there is a wonderful site about russian culture, including names : www.russievirtuelle.comAs i said in the thread "good names", there are typical tatar names (which are not arabic) like : timur, aslan, ildar, ilshat, ilnaz, ayrat, aydar, mintimer (the president of tatarstan) etc. But as krasivaya Annie said, most of the names used by Tatars are arabic because of religion. It's the same thing for Russian: most of their names are greek (about 60 %, slavic names about 5%, everything is explained in the french site whith a list of names, meanings included). By the way, next week I'll receive a friend for holidays, he's russian (also tatar), I can ask him if you want. do svidanya ( =bye bye, but be careful, you have to pronounce da svidanya, here is all the difficulty in russian language, "o" is pronounced "a" when there is no accent and the accents as far as I know are not specified in the press and books...in breaf, it's difficult to read without accents, but I'm working !!!!)
