I'm a football fan, yeah. I support Netherlands, Czechs, Portugal in that order. I was rooting against England in all of it's matches, and the moment I saw Beckham starting the penalty shootout I bet that he'll miss. I won about one Euro in UAE money...l

Congrats Vass, wow you one 1 whole Euro!!!!!!
Well seeing as I'm Dutch, I support the Netherlands too
and although I was supporting Portugal during yesterdays match, I was so surprised they actually won! Still don't really know why that one goal by England was dissallowed. And during the penalties, I was laughing so hard after Beckham's penalty, but later when I saw the state of the penalty spot, I guess it's understandable to shoot a penalty like that. The state of that penalty shot was awful, everyone did a little "gardening" before they took the penalty. I was surprised they didn't go to the other goal, to take the penalties there.

i just placed a bet for denmark to win the tournament cos the odds for that was pretty good. so... yeah...
but i'm thinking it might be a long shot.
i'm not supporting anyone in particular seeing that the team i was supporting, SPAIN did such a disgraceful job. gee!
so i'm just following the matches now for a good time!!! all the best to all the teams!

And during the penalties, I was laughing so hard after Beckham's penalty, Arsene Wenger was a commentator here on tv and said Beckham has bad results with penalties anyway, so it's not surprising he missed this one (and i knew he'd miss before he shot ... just a premonition). I was supporting France but i must admit they've been really lucky since the beginning and i didn't really thought they could keep the title.I thought they'd go into the semis and lose to the Czech republic. But the Greeks did the job Now i support the Czechs. Gwen>>you didn't tell us what team YOU support...

Jiat, did ytou actually bet in a betting house? I'm asking because I read in the news that in Taiwan and Asia in general more people bet on Euro04 than in whole of europe. In your case it'll be "asia in general" but still...

In your case it'll be "asia in general" but still... well vass, i placed my bet with the "public" betting house, where it's legal. there are "private" ones that are generally illegal but give better odds. the "public" betting house makes so much money cos we've got so many forms of lottery here, they're always major sponsors at events and stuff. talk about "giving back to society!" and yes, asians bet a lot. in terms of sports, it's generally just soccer and here in s'pore, the only reason ppl watch our pathetic local league is cos of the betting. we've got a 3 forms of lottery here. yep... that's why the betting house gives so much "back to society"....

The Dutch played like crap yesterday (sorry for the language). They just didn't want to attack and their mid-field was weak, which weakened the good attck force too. They were lucky to get to the semis . I just hope that Nethrlands will play better against Portugal, use different tactics and put Overmars on the field.

They were lucky to get to the semis . I just hope that Nethrlands will play better against Portugal, use different tactics and put Overmars on the field. It's not like they played like total crap.. they were just too much in the back so it was hard to reach the wingers and central striker v Nistelrooij. But nevertheless they were the team that attacked most and they trully had the will to fight (has been different in the past : both have had some great chances and hit the post and the crossbar.. and fortunately the Netherlands won on penalties this time!! Portugal will be a tougher job than the Swedish.. but I dont think they should use different tactics Vass.. the idea they have is good, but there have to be more attacks from the midfield, so get rid of Cocu (too slow..) and vd Meyde (too few good shots/actions) Overmars is a better option, but he's so much slower than he used to be.. So my option is, put Sneijder in and beat the Portuguese with some youngsters instead of the oldies. We're in the semi's!! WHOOOOHOO!! We thought we wouldnt even survive the group stages! ;D ;)Caroline
