Agreed ;D Marcela & Nimo Munz & Me are right...it is getting a bit boring and pointless. This thread is for NEW stuff about Marat & Dasha rather than lots of redundant comments about whether or not they like her/her fashion sense/her photogenic appeal etc etc etc Opinions are always welcome, as long as they are relevant and actually have a point to them  ;D |

Hi! I am new here, this website is really great! I just read that new marat interview and he is a very realistic, simple, smart guy. I really like him and his tennis. He is also very sweet about his girlfriend  but I dont understand why they call her Daria and he calls her Dasha? Is that his nickname for her? |

Chrissy, it's very simple. Here in Russia things are a bit different names wise, we sort of make short sweet names for all full names there are. Like Dmitry for example is Dima, Anna is Anya, Svetlana is Sveta, Daria is Dasha, Maria is Masha etc. So that should answer your question

Well if you look at it generally, I think they sure do. Like you always call Rebecca - Becca or Katherine - Kath or Katie, so in some way I guess they do but Russians do it all the time. Not for all names though, some of them are short enough. But if you would really sweetly like to talk about Marat for example..you would call him Maratik. He he he he

No-one really knows how they met, but Marat says they've known each other for 2 years. To my knowledge, they were first seen at the LA tourney about 2 years ago, and since that's where Dasha lives, it's possible they met through friends/social life there. They also seem to have mutual friends in the Russian socialite circles, so it's also good guess that they were introduced through friends....that's more likely to have been in Moscow if we're talking Ksenia (Xenia) Sobchak and/or Leonid Nerushenko introducing them etc etc But these are just educated guesses |
