i don't think we support marat just cos he wins matches. we support him for winning, yes, BUT also as a person and for being someone we can respect and look up to, even though he's not perfect. of course, it's really frustrating and disappointing when he loses time and again... and we keep having to come up with excuses for him, but if he's lost even his fan support, i think it'll be a lot worse and he'll probably even lose part of his motivation to get back into tip top shape. absolutely, we've got to support him, even through the though times!!! -xxx-jes me |

Somehow I think that these are just rumours. Or are understandable things: how long do you want a relationship to last if Marat flies away to another place after a week.

These rumors are always made by journalists and you know them...  they see a girl around Marat and they say that she's his another "love" |

I think Sirus21 is right IMO Marat and Dasha are MFEO  And she seems to be able to travel with him a lot, and I guess when she can't it must be kinda a nice break for him  I do't know, I just hope that she really cares for him!! and I just wish him much happiness, and lots of success  |

Good question - I think it depends on your definition of 'girlfriend' Silvia, his first [?] 'official' girlfriend was definitely the longest - they dated for several years, from when Marat was about 17 and they broke up at the end of 2001. Since then there have been...how can I put this?... 'temporary entertainments' *lol* But Dasha is only the second girlfriend Marat has admitted to. She seemed to be around Marat back in Indian Wells 2003, so I guess she's known Marat for a while, and she turned up to a few other tourneys in 03 (LA, St.Pete) but whether they were still doing the 'just good friends' at that point, I don't know. Marat decided to kinda 'announce' the relationship at Aus. 04, so I'm taking that as the 'official starting point' ;D So Daria has been around 2nd longest (by my humble calculations *lol*) It certainly seems to be a more consistent relationship - Marat and Silvia always seemed to be off and on - and she is appearing at way more tourneys than Silvia ever did (mind you, Silvia was studying at Uni at the time, so....). Dasha is at Monte Carlo as we speak. So, to answer the other element of your question, Marat was 'single' (I use the term loosely here ) for approx. 3 years - I certainly don't think he was celibate as well though ;D Like most tennis players, he probably has a few girls at strategic tournaments he meets up with every year, or there are certain clubs where a group of the tennis 'in-crowd' hang out and he knows he's 'safe' to make a play for them. (I mean 'safe' as in 'not gold-diggers or kiss-n-tell or fans who will blab across the net/newspapers'.) Marat is definitely one of the most discreet players and very careful - I've never heard of him with any of the...erm... 'regular groupies'. (I'm ashamed to admit it, but I know a few of them..... although I'd like to emphasise, I'm not one of them myself!) From what I've been told, he has pretty high standards - to protect himself and also because he deserves the best ;D I think it's safe to assume, Marat, being a normal red-blooded male who is also rich, fairly famous, and gorgeous, has had plenty of 'experience' with girls, few of whom we fans will ever hear about, but he's also got enough integrity to choose equally discreet girls and he keeps it to himself .  I also agree, that a lot of the girls mentioned by so-called journalists are nothing to do with Marat, they just happened to be within a 5 mile radius at the time *clicks 'post' and hides under the duvet* If you're going to email me/leave me messages about 'not being a real fan' because I've discussed Marat's love-life here, then don't bother! I already know I'm pathetic |

Ok, but there is stll sth strange, when a journalist asked him if he had a girlfriend, in January (during the Hopman Cup I think) he answered "No, not yet" and then Daria appeared at the Australian Open. So has she been his girlfriend since 2003 or since January 2004 (after having been a friend for months). That is the Question!! PS: I can affirm that she is Monaco right now with Walt. But we didn't see her often on TV, it seems that cameramen don't consider her as THE star now, they've realized that the player was Marat! ;D |

And I also remember that when he answered the question he wanted to add something more, but they cut it off... I still wonder what he wanted to add... |

I already know I'm pathetic No you're not!!!! BTW honestly I don't really get what the big deal is in discussing his personal life. Take for instance fans of movie stars or singers, their fans are obsessed with their personal life. True we do discuss his personal life, but in a more rational way, we don't really believe the many rumours, we know that's all they are, and we talk about his life in a respectful matter. I think the way we do discuss both his personal and professional life, is okay, there's a balance, we care about both, we're not just obsessed by his personal life, for (most) of us his tennis is still the most important thing. And as long as we keep talking about his personal life with respect (as I think we do) I think it's okay. And it's not like we're personally invading his privacy by making personal things about him public. We just voice our opinions on what is already public, Nothing wrong with that (or at least, that's what I think) -xxx-jes me |
