LOL ;D ;D ;D ;D I guess I might be the only one here to think this way: THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! Sure, now I might see him in St. Petersburg and in Paris after all but I would've preferred him to climb that damn mountain... Maybe that'll be on his agenda in 2010+ Welcome back to civilization, Marat... P.S.: And yes, it sounds like the absolutely most reasonable decision he could've made as a rookie climber... But boy, I was looking forward to that photo with him waving a little flag on top of Cho Oyu, LMAO!!!!!!!

But on the other hand it's probably the most rational decision.. He got plenty of fresh air, cleared his head and is now ready for some serious training.. So I say Go Marat

Think it sucks big time that he had to stop the expedition, maybe he couldn't get used to the height and the lack of air there! There was already said on the 7summit.ru website, that during an acclimatisation climb, som members of the expedition were suffering "mountain illness" with passing the 5100m line, and they had to go down again But I think it's the best decision he made, for his health! To bad he didn't made it, but it's sure NOT FAILING!!!!! I expect him to try it again, in a few years ;D Can't wait to see him in moscow (to bad he isn't playing there, but at least shiow up there ;D, to make me, Anna, Lena, Dianne and Veni very happy ) Have a safe trip back to the civilisation in Kathmandu again

First of all Marat realised that this climb is a very serious challenging issue and not just an adventure. He loves the experience and is fully into it but realises that it has to be treated with great caution and respect. And the next step is a very big one indeed. Yer learning Big Yin. Wise decision. There's plenty of mountains in the Scottish Highlands that you can go up - and they're safer. You don't start off with the 6th biggest mountain in the world. LMAO. At least the pure oxygen has cleared yer brain cells. Get back to what you do best. And get training for Wimbles. It's only 8 months away!! Signed Your fairy godmother. Send me the shorts as a souvenir. ;D

At least the pure oxygen has cleared yer brain cells. Mary- the- fairy ... it's less and less oxygen up there...and that can actually cause brain damage (the gick in me had to say this:))

Great news! More tennis action from Marat!!
I am glad that he is decided not to go ahead with the climb if he thought that the climb will be detrimental to his health at the moment. i am sure he will be back up there when he is ready. I hope that a little bit of time up in the mountain gave him some peace though so he can get back to what he do best.
waiting for you to come down under!

well, it's a relief.....although I have been worried about his health and safe thing (esp about climbing down from the top, which got me so scared) while been exciting to follow up with everyday's progress. I am sure Marat is not a quitter. I believe he has evaluated the situations carefully and throughly. Only he knows how he adapts the the altitude and the all possible risks he might be exposed to. And he made a decision that is right for him. Kinda disappointed but at the same time relieved......Vamos Marat ! Welcome back !!

Sure was going to be dangerous even for an expert climber. I am sure he will fulfill his dream of conquering the mountain just not at the moment. We support you all the way Marat!

Wow. I'm kinda disappointed in the fact that he hadn't thought this all out before jumping into it. Sure it's very challenging.... It's a mountain! What'd you expect? He had to get part way up to have this revelation? Did no one just stand in front of him, look into his eyes and say... IT'S A MOUNTAIN!!!!! [/mini rant] Anyways, at least he can see his limitations, and hopefully he had a good time with how far he got. Maybe when he's had time to plan it out he'll be able to go to the top.

Still think it's cleared out the cobwebs. LMAO. I'm not gonna comment on brain damage ... the 6th largest mountian in the world? LMAO. Get on with the tennis Big Yin. Well done on getting that far though.

it is a tough desicion but a good one. maybe he has seen there is something he can do when he will have finished with tennis, but it need a little bit more preperation. and there is something he can share with friends. Hope Juri will be a summiter and can tell him how thought it was and show him his pics ;D so, we have some more tennis this year and maybe a nice week in paris ;D
