www.flickr.com/photos/24795763@N03/sets/72157615352409250/Marat will now play against John Isner - The Big American who beat Monfils in 3 sets! (Ranked 147) This match is basically whether Marat can return well or play 2 TB well, dont expect many breaks as both are big servers They played once last year which Marat won in LA 6-3 6-4 - would love a similar scoreline!

Thanks for the info re the doubles. I thought when I checked the original draw that Marat wasn't playing - then when I saw he was with Paul-Henri I thought I'd gone completely mental. Nice to know that's not the case - well in this instance at any rate.

6-3 7-6 ;D Well done Big Yin. Good solid display - convert more of those break points though! Nice to see you on a court looking like a) you want to be there and b) you want to win. ;D Go get some rest. That means no clubbing. FG I can get back to bed now ... Yes, he did look like he really wanted this match. I actually saw a few fist pumps and I also was so impressed that during one of the change overs he wanted a new bottle of water or something and he was SO polite when he asked the ballkid. He said please when he asked and thank you when he got it. Such a nice change from many of the players who just point and grunt to the ballkids! Another thing about Marat is that he usually "hands" the towel to the kids instead of just throwing it back there like most of the players.. Aww Marat, you are just so adorable.

Good to see him play doubles here! Well I have become a bit nocturnal these days, so i managed to watch a livestream of the match and I have to say, compared to what I have seen before, it was a big improvement. It seemed more solid and like you guys have said, he looked like he wanted it! Loved when he did the fist pump! Did anyone else notice that Sveta was in the crowd watching, wrapped in a towel? Anyway, I agree with Annette. Isner is going to be tough, but fingers crossed Marat can pull something out of the bag. And thanks Dina for this pic, I totally agree with you!!

On the nocturnal note, I'm off to bed. No livestreams, so you're on your own Pixie. Use the doubles as singles practice.
By way of encouragement, I put some hard cash on you for the doubles. No arsing around, win the doubles for me as well and you get a big plate of pasta at Wimbles.
G'night, one and all. ;D
A knacked FG.
PS Good win for Andy. ;D

Just came back to the room after a day full of Doubles matches: Nalbi, Juan Martin, Richie, Wawrinka... A quite impressive list. Marat's and Paulo's match against the Brazilian Doubles specialists was a load of fun. ;D I didn't expect them to win and I was amazed at how close they got to bagging the match. Especially Marat did a terrific job - hats off! Paulo was the one who tanked the match in the end. If I see him tomorrow I'll whip him for it, lmao!!! Wow, Marat must have been very good to earn Annette's compliments! Too bad the match wasn't televised anywhere. Fingers crossed that Marat will impress our Admin and Jen tomorrow again!!

I think I will give up betting. My gambling career has been very short-lived. LMAO.
Glad to hear that my Big Pixie was giving it his all, a la Wimbles. ;D All his net play has paid off. LMAO.
