The first set was very tough until the very end. The Russian player, world-ranked no. 29, was more focused than Moya to eventually win the set.
But Moya managed to recover in the second set to be ahead in the score; yet, Safin reacted and started rallying the bad result.
When Moya was 5-4 ahead, Safin crashed into some advertising post and injured his left wrist; still, he refused to be assisted by the doctors.
Marat Safin tied the score to be 5-5 for the set to end up in a tie-break; then, the Russian clinched the second set and the win after a brilliant performance. |

My wings look more and more likely ... PS Try not to break any bones when you're out there though. It'll set back our AO campaign a bit!  |

His fairy had quaffed a cheeky little red last night ... and was seeing double ... I chucked the fairy dust over what I thought was him. Thought he looked about two foot shorter .... |

I was feeling a bit down about Marat losing - but you always manage to distract me with a bit of humour and it puts things into perspective. At least he played a couple of games - let's hope he plays a few more before deciding to call it quits - one day at a time |

marat has confirmed he will be playing hopman cup with dinara, that is great news as I bought tickets for the whole week.

Yes that is good news - I am so looking forward to seeing him in action with Dinara - hope they don't fall out on court.
Good humour Marat please. We want good play and serious stuff - but lots of fun too. That's the best thing about Hopman - the balance between the two.
