The most disappointed person would be himself than another one else. Having working so hard and struggling with finding his old game for so long, finally there's one little promising result-Wimby, which was completely unexpected that he didn't even know who he was playing after def Joker. After that, nothing clicked again. I happen to like some unfortunate/underachieved/injury prone players. I always wonder did I jinx them? Pim pim had to retire at such young age at 23. JC, Marat's best practice partner when training in Valencia, has withdrawn three slams this year due to different injuries. Coria is nowhere to be seen. Justine suddenly decided to retire early this year which was pretty understandable yet saddening. I only pray Marat is injury free and hangs in there. There is always hope as long as he keeps trying. 3 years of waiting must be hard to swallow. Fingers crossed that he will stick around and tough it out. kisses

Agreed Justsafin, I really hope this does not totally destroy his morale. But it must be getting harder and harder to retain the motivation with this run of bad luck and results. Chin up, our boy we are rooting for you and will always be here for you . And on a more lighthearted note, I think the crew cut rocks. OMG so beautiful. sooo beautiful

My god.... just woke up and had a slight hope of a win after id seen the 3rd set. He just totally gave it away. He could have won this match if he had won either the tiebreak in the 2nd or converted the 2 or 3 breakpoints at 4-4 in the 3rd set.
Anyway.. moving on is what we've all become on expert on lately. Have a nice trip home Marat and keep your chin up! Even though you lost I really enjoyed watching some of your points! And I want to see a lot more of those!

What the ...? I got locked out of SKY at 2am last night and it was 6-4 6-5 to the Big Yin. He lost and got a bagel in the fourth? Bugger it - they must have got back on court just after I went to bed. What happened? He was on top of Tommy completely in the first 2 sets and applying the pressure. Was hitting too many unforced errors, but at least he was still hitting some lovely shots - and coming in to the net for some lovely winners! The margin would have been much wider if he'd got a grip on the UEs. Anybody see the whole match? Did his momentum go completely when they came back on the second time? Disappointing, but not the end of the world. My Big Pixie must be feeling pretty disappointed with this one. Go home and recuperate. Do some more fishing. I'll look at the fairy dust again ... maybe I've got to be there and chuck it over him! I'll tie the boy some flies anyway. If I can find my feathers ... I hate rain.

See the two articles posted above, Mary - they give a bit of a summary of what happened - apparently he just lost it in the 4th. And don't hate the rain - it got him out of trouble a few times in his career (and it also must be good for your plants )

The rain delay in Wimbles against Lopez helped the Big Yin. He may have got thumped in that match and never reached the semis. Hate's too strong a word ... I get 'slightly miffed' with it when it comes to tennis as I have spent SO many hours sitting in it listening to 'play is suspended...'. Great for the plants as you say! ;D Speaking of which, I'm off to the flower show soon. Fingers crossed I get a first ... If not, I'll be buying up the cake stall and aiming for a sugar overdose. Only one more question re the match. Did he blow a complete gasket? There was a reference earlier about the racquet getting thrown. His fairy godmother will be mightily peed off if he has been misbehaving again ... I'll sit him on the naughty step after a skelp on the backside.

Re the match, I'll watch the reply of that last set and give you a full account of what happened, but I guess we'd rather hope for a blow, since he lost it 6-0 and not to Nadal or Fed...

So sorry for Marat ! I think that he will search a new coach in the next few weeks !!! I absolutely don't think he would! He's very satisfied with his collaboration with Gumy and he says it several times! I believe the guy appreciates the work he does with him because he somehow understands him and Marat likes that! Anyways doesn't matter who's the coach the only thing that matters is Marat and his confidence and his mental! He had a lot of great results with a lot of coaches! It's all about him!

Woot woot, I had a better day than the Big Yin ... 4 firsts and 3 seconds at the flower show! Won something in every category I exhibited in, including the photography section! Woot woot! I then bought half the cake and plant stall in celebration. Have already tanked 2 meringues ... helped me blot out last night's result. A sugar high helps a girl cope with anything. ;D Took the flowers over to the old folks' home across the road (are you allowed to call it that in today's 'politically correct' climate?) Made a few more people very happy.
Maybe the fairy dust was blown back across the Atlantic and never reached the Big Yin after all. I thought it was dandruff on my jacket ...
Andy's on next v Melzer. Hope at least one of my boys makes it to next week.
Think I'll go get some walnut cake ...
