Oh marat Hopefully he gets some more matches in Washington, i think motivation is another factor, with the Olympics this tournament feels dead.

Big Yin, I thought I told you to put on your Wimbles heid?
'It’s ok if I am not seeded ...yes, it would be good if I am, but I am not going to shoot myself if I am not.”
Gums, give his arse a skelp from me. It's not okay. After Wimbles, the goal was to be seeded for the US Open and back in top 20 by end of year. In Wimbles, I didn't break my back brewing double-strength fairy dust and queueing for hours for that attitude. And you haven't put in all those hours for nothing either.
Muppet! And I said I wasn't going to call him a muppet again. That boy knows how to noise me up.
Washington - give me a good show again. No messing around, there's a Slam coming up.

I don't get marat he seems to put all the hard work and blow it by making silly comments like that. I think it is marat mental state that needs to be work on.

It makes no difference who the coach is, it's [glow=red,2,300]Marat [/glow]that's the bad influence on Marat. Gums has made him make a few changes to his game ... a huge step in itself. The biggest problem any coach is likely to have is to get the Big Yin to think positively and not to undermine the hard work. And listening to him won't go amiss either ... ;D Maybe in Washington we'll see some of that Wimbles positive thought ... he needs to get out and water some plants again as well. Anybody got a windowbox they can give him for the week?

I don't get him....i won't pretend i get him...but just IMO....i think he's dissapointed and frustrated in some level, he just doesn't want to show it so he plays it down. I do that. And also, maybe he just plays it down so people won't put too much pressure on him, so he won't put too much pressure on himself as well.... BTW, mary...i have a whole balcony full of plants that needs watering...but then again, he'd have to come here. ;D

Marat is in denial sometimes, which is odd because the next minute is bluntly honest. such a contradiction.

Natasha, where is denial in his words? He said the truth. It's not the end of the world if he's not seeded. He'll try but if he's not seeded, he'll nave to deal with it and continue working. Or you prefer him saying that we would retire if he fails to get seeded? Or he should have promised to win Washington? I don't get what's the problem with his words.

Hi guys!! Im finally back from my 6week absentness and it is good to be back! Ive missed all the tennis, although the first 2 weeks I fortunately could see the wimbledon matches! Well, what to say about his results.. not the best i guess but neither the worst. I had hoped for some better performances at the Masters but never mind! Marat looks good btw:)! Anything I missed, something special? xxx

I don't get what's the problem with his words. marat made it obvious that his goal for the summer was to be seeded in the us open, he kept repeating that statment throughout Wimbledon. Now that it looks unlikely, he is saying its not the end of the world if he isnt seeded, trying to take pressure off himself. last year he kept saying rankings dont mean much anymore but then he says he wants to be top 20 again, im saying he contradicts himself and in certain aspects he is denial, on the flip side he can be brutally honest too. Thats just my opinion on it, you dont have to agree.

Natasha, it was absolutely clear that ranking always mattered for him and he had the goals. I can't believe anyone could take his words seriously. He prefered to feed journalists with this story to get them off his back and stop their stupid questions and talks about retirement. If he had told the truth he would keep on saying how hard he works and how frustrated he is and it would have souned pathetic taking into account his results. Besides, nobody apart from some of his fans would have believed him anyway. The same with US ranking, he wanted to get the seeding but we not always get what we want. So, what do you expect him to say now? That he's frustrated? He has to live with it , life goes on.

My tuppenceworth. Yes, of course it's not the end of the world if he doesn't get seeded - a sense of perspective doesn't do us or him any harm -- but he should be saying that 'he's disappointed if he doesn't get seeded after all the hard work that he's put in' and keep trying to stay focused. Not the reverse psychology ... 'It doesn't matter'. If he was honest with HIMSELF, it DOES MATTER. Very much so - that's why he gets so frustrated when it doesn't pay off. It matters a lot to him and he should at least be honest about it instead of trying to pretend that he doesn't care. It ain't fooling anybody. If anything, it puts more pressure on him. If it doesn't matter, why the hell are you still out there slogging away Big Yin? Shit happens ... to quote the boy ... but you try to deal with it positively. We're all guilty of 'pretending' it doesn't matter when it really does. A bit of self-awareness wouldn't go amiss with the boy. And more self-belief. So, Washington beckons ... a Wimbles heid must be on his shoulders. ;D SKY are showing from the quarters ... get on with it. And get the lucky white outfit back on ... ;D

Still the results haven't hapened, so what is he going to do, flog himself or adjust to the circumstances? On the reply to the journos, I bet he is asked the same thing a million times over and some days you just doesn't have the patience to open your heart yet again, you just want to be off so you can go about your business.
