Heh heh heh (evil laugh) big yin. Just watched the match. Well done. Why did you wait until the second set to take my advice and start doing a bit more on the serve and volley or mid-court returns and slice shots? (In all modesty ... ;D) Heh heh heh ... he must get really hacked off with everybody giving tennis tips from their armchair ... but heh, what the hell? I can't serve and volley ... but Marat can't make a potato gratin!!! Soderling has a heavy return and will match you on the long rallies from the baseline. It suits him. He ain't so good moving in to the net. The second set was a turnaround for you by playing these tactics. Think of the next 8 months as practice for Wimbles. AO? FO? Big practice sessions for the real thing ... start mixing up your game. Everybody expects you to have the big shots from the baseline. Start surprising them more. MIx it big yin ... a la Maestro And keep the heid ... it's great to see you so focused in the last few months!!! Jings, Peter must be having palpitations watching you these days from the comfort of his living room ... and you must be saving a fortune in racquets these days. Have to say though, makes me chuckle when I see that sly look in your eyes when it's so obvious that you can't believe that you've pulled off such a great shot ... and at the net!!! Jings. I'll have you in shape for June 2007 yet ... PLEASE NOTE: This was a message for Marat Safin ... if he ever reads these posts. If not, you guys will no doubt shake your heads in agreement. It was a good result tonight. And I'm sure that the match with Gasquet will be par excellence. (GET YOUR ARSE OFF THE BASELINE AGAIN THOUGH IF YOU'RE READING THIS!!!) Enjoy the day off. All of us. Need to go check out the odds for Wimbles. Maybe I can break even this year ...

I've seen Igor playing and he was just great ! He made great shots to come back from 5-2 and then he was just better and Gael was missing a lot... In his speech to the crowd he was really cute, so surprised to be back se fast ! Sasha was in his box... I'm exhausted so no time to tell you all about Bercy and to post pics but i'll do soon i swear ! But here just a little sum up : Fantastic day and fantastic Marat !!! I've seen Dima in the morning : he's just gorgeous ! And then i was near to collapse during one set and a half in the Marat's match... Soderling was playing and serving unbelievable and, even if Marat was playing good, he didn't find the key... Marat was upset a little bit, start to throw the racquet but it helped him to make the pressure goes out i guess because after he started to play better ;D He started to mix his shots a bit more and to win some rallies and Robin was starting to lose his nerves and to make mistakes... Marat has played really smart but it was amazing to see how fast both were playing.... I've already seen Marat played in Bercy but today his shots were like in car racing, i guess it was because of the game of soderling who like to play with a lot of rythm... Oh and i forgot when he fell and everybody shout of fear in the stadium ! I was thinking he twisted his ankle again like in 2004 against Canas but he woke up early and everyone was relieved ! Don't frighten us all like that again Marat... Anyway all the crowd was again for our guy, shaking on each BP and fingers crossed for him to win ! That was just funny too see because it was not full at all but there was more people in Marat's match than for some matches with french players ! And as he went on the court at the start of the match, they were yelling his name like crazy ones No kiss to the camera this day but a soooooo nice and cute smile.... This guy will kill me that's for sure. Okay i forgot for sure thousand things and will tell you all about my days at Bercy later! I was there on monday and today and will be again and for last time tomorrow... NIght everybody ;D

Safin desperate for disaster year to end Barnaby Chesterman | Paris, France 01 November 2006 11:15 In one month's time Russia will contest the Davis Cup final against Argentina in Moscow, but Marat Safin would rather be anywhere else.
Safin is expected to take a leading role in the final from December 1 to 3, just as he did in September's semifinal victory over the United States.
Possibly in preparation for the Davis Cup, Safin is even teaming up with compatriot Dimitry Tursunov in the doubles at the Paris Masters.
But the three-time winner of the Paris title is far from happy after a year dogged by injury and poor form, which once saw his ranking slump to 104.
And he is hardly in the right frame of mind to be leading Russia's Davis Cup tilt.
"I don't have any expectations from this year," he said after a three-set second-round victory over Sweden's Robin Soderling on Tuesday.
"It has been a terrible year for me. Disappointments following disappointments.
"I just want to stop. I want to get over this year and just continue a New Year from the start because, really, this has been terrible."
Winning a Davis Cup is often considered as the pinnacle of any player's career, alongside winning a Grand Slam.
Most people would think the prospect of a Davis Cup final would be enough to lift anyone's spirits. But not Safin's.
"Yeah, but who cares?" moaned the big Russian.
"Just for my personal career I think it was a disaster year. It is not even half okay."
The former world number one started the year ranked 12th, thanks largely to winning the 2005 Australian Open, but fell to outside the top 100 before climbing back up to his current 37th position.
"From the first day that I came on court this year I've been struggling, problems and completely unlucky in many ways and I'm just pretty sick and tired of this one," he added.
"I'm just trying to play my best tennis to finish on the right note and forget about this one."
He was far from his best in the first set and a half against Soderling, trailing 6-3, 3-1 at one stage.
But a run of five straight games spearheaded an eventual 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory and kept alive his hopes of winning a fourth Paris title.
Next up for Safin is a third-round clash against France's Richard Gasquet or Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka. -- AFP

Sorry, it's in French
"Je veux le titre"[/u]
31 octobre 2006
