Safin played very poorly in the first set. Second set, he was starting to play better till the umpire got the score WRONG again on the electronic computer. Safin then started to miss balls until he suddenly got a break and then he cruised from there to take the second set. It was really a brainfight in the third set and Safin won because Soderling made too many errors. Safin was patiently waiting for his chances and he took it.

I am so proud of Marat today!!
Though the first set slipped away too fast, he managed to hang in there and fought back on the 2nd set. Broke soderling twice!! (EVEN federer had to do two tiebreaks to def soderling ....) and the 3rd set, he held his breath and waited for the right moment to break. While he was facing breakpoints, he was executing well on crucial points!!
He served and volleyed alot today and that was quite successful!! Also, he sliced the ball short to change the rhythm which bothered Soderling. He played real smart and patiently!!!!
Our Marat, well done and you are the best !!!
