beautiful pic!i was so hoping i'd see him lifting the trophy for the first time since i was his fan that i completely forgot this was his first final since then. Sorry Annie, I know this is off the thread - but I need to thank Sonya for drawing my attention to google images. I'm still in jockstraps. There's a pic of a greyhound wearing one on page 3. I need to go lie down. I can't stop crying. ;D Think I'll read the big yin's blog first. No doubt there'll be more tears of laughter. God bless you Sonya. be careful!google is dangerous-it can drag you deep deep down, into the greatest dirtiness you couldn't even have imagined! ;D lol

Davydenko Beats Safin in all-Russian Final © Getty Images Nikolay Davydenko emerged victorious in the first all-Russian final in the 17-year history of the Kremlin Cup, defeating Marat Safin 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 to win his fourth title of the year.
Davydenko moved to within four points of No. 4 Andy Roddick in the INDESIT ATP 2006 Race and boosted his chance of qualifying for Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai for the second consecutive year.
Davydenko, who clinched his 200th career win in the semifinals, leveled his career record (2-2) against Safin, who claimed his 350th career win in the semifinals.
Davydenko, 25, was playing his sixth final of the year and won his fourth title (Sopot, Poertschach, New Haven). He is 9-3 in career finals.
Benched during Russia's Davis Cup semifinal against the U.S.A., Davydenko won his second Moscow title (2004) and became the first two-time titlist since Yevgeny Kafelnikov (1997-2001).
Davydenko is 61-24 on the year, surpassing 60 match wins in a season for the first time in his career. Last year he went 56-30.
Safin, who wrote the ATPtennis.com blog this week, played his first final of the year and reached the Moscow final for the first time in nine attempts. He has not won a title since capturing his second Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January 2005.
WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID
Davydenko: "Marat was playing up and down; he would play a good game then a bad one. But he still gave it a hundred percent and made me raise my level in the third set. If he continues to play like this, he can go back to the Top 10.
"Obviously it is a step forward for the Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai and now I have to take my chances at the (ATP) Masters Series in Madrid and Paris."
Safin: "He moves very well on this surface. It was difficult for me to control the points as I was sometimes caught wrong-footed. To beat him you must be top fit. I felt today that I was not in my best condition, I was too slow, I could hardly run...
"I have a very tough year behind me, many disappointing losses, lack of confidence, problems with my knee...I needed a lot of time to recover after matches. Thanks to Sasha (Volkov) I found my way, I can play again."
"Today I had my chances - if I'd won all my service games in the final set, I think it would be a different story."

On MaratSafin .com Katherine translate a his speech ;D
Author: Katherine Date: 15-10-2006 09:33
So, Marat said something like - I'd love to congratulate Kolya, first of all, he has played a very good match...I would have won against him if Edik and his team didn't support him so much. Thanx to Jury Mikhailovich (the mayor of Moscow) and all the peole for organising such a good tornament... Thanks to all the linesmen, who even started to support me at the end,to all the ballboys, and girls also. Thanx to Sasha for his help. He helped me, and I started to play tennis (judjing by intonation he could have added something like - "not football" - lol). And the most important - thanx to the supporters, for them to cheer for me. Though I actually don't understand why 70% of the public was supporting Kolya, he's from Ukraine by the way. I'm very happy to play in the final, it's my best result here... LAst time I was in the semis, now I'm in the finals. Hope next year we'll negotiate with Kolya and he'll let me win. Thank you all for letting me to have a good long talk here and for listening to me...
Then Kolya came up to Marat and said - "Ok, that's enough" lol So Marat was very sweet and humorous=)))
