Well done Marat for reaching the final for the FIRST time after 9 attempts. that was by no means an easy feat. Nice to see everyone's smiling at the end and in good spirit(don't hold grudges against Kolya just because he's Ukrainian hehe). Good luck In Madrid!

Since this hasn't been posted yet... Davydenko edges Safin in Moscow Top seed Nikolay Davydenko ended Marat Safin's hopes of a first title in almost two years with victory in the final of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. Davydenko broke twice in the opening set and, after Safin levelled, once more in the decider to come through 6-4 5-7 6-4 in two hours, 20 minutes. "I'm glad to win at home," said world number five Davydenko. "I lost two of my previous meetings with Marat on hard courts but today I was stronger." He added: "I was hoping to play Marat in the final. "Although I lost to Safin twice this year, I beat him in our last meeting in Estoril and with this win I've proved that I'm playing better than him for the time being." Davydenko made a decisive break in the sixth game of the first set and broke twice early in the second set. But Safin recovered and then saved three match points in the ninth game before converting his only break point to level the match. "If I had had held in the first games of the third set, I would have a chance in the match," said Safin, who returned to the tour in February after six months out with a knee injury. "It has been a very tough year for me. "I've suffered a lot of painful defeats this year, matches I think I should have won because my confidence was low, and today was one of those unlucky days for me." Here's hoping those days of no confidence and bad luck are behind him!Source: news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tennis/6053248.stm

Can someone please translate Marat's and Nikolay's speech ? Except spasiba i understand nothing Marat talks endless and that was fun when Davydenko just came to make it go away from the mike ! Here is how the speech went ;D ;D ;D I was there and made it a point to remember that LOL... Marat, forgive me for a free translation but unfortunately I had no recorder, so cannot reproduce it word by word ;D ;D ;D "I would like to first of all thank Nikolay for playing some amazing tennis today. Of course I would have beaten him if Edik and the rest of the family weren't mumbling so loudly. I would also like to thank the mayor for the organisation as well as the sponsors. Come on guys, you have to clap louder here or otherwise they won't give us any money next year. Big thanks to my friend Sasha Volkov for teaching me how to play tennis again ;D Special thanks to ballboys/girls and linesmen. I have known many of them for years and they really tried to help me today but tough luck... thanks anyway guys. And at last I would like to thank the most important people - the fans who were supporting me all week even though today 70% of the crowd was for Kolya, God knows why because he is from Ukraine. But thanks guys for everything, I never reached more than semis here and fans weren't happy about that, so this year I reached a final and hopefully next year I'll manage to make a deal with Kolya and he'll let me win this" That's when Kolya went up from behind and told him "Ok, that's enough now" LMAO ;D ;D ;D ;D Great week Marat!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great tournament!!!!!!!!!!! Great Blog!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hola Madrid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
