Second set: First two games were won to love, then Marat had 40-40 on Horna's serve, but Horna hit two aces and that was it. In this set, his serve was good right up till the end.........  In the last game, he was 30 -0 up, but had a few foot faults called (one of them on second serve), got pissed off, argued with the umpire, the crowd started to boo and whistle, saved some break points, argued with the lines-men and the umpire some more.......... he even argued with him right before he played the matchpoint........... ;D And then finally, he won it, while the crowd was hissing and booing, and left the court giving them SARCASTIC kisses while they were whistling and stuff............ that was PRICELESS!!!! ;D ;D ;D  I know I'm not supposed to like this, but when he was arguing with the umpire, he had this look on his face like "Excuse me, come again...?!" Very bemused and sarcastic..... I loved it! ;D It was hilarious, but at the same time I was like "Forget him and serve it out already!!!!!!!! Please, God, don't let him get REALLY upset and lose!!" Then, as he was serving and the crowd didn't stop, he gestured to them, like "Yeah, come on, give me all U've got!!!!" and put his hand to his ear, like "I can't hear U!!!!!" He's such a DRAMA QUEEN!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D LOL Neo! My thoughts exactly! I didn't want to get into it last night because it was so hard to describe but you did it so well! His hand movement "come on, come on" when they booed and whistled! ;D It's so lovely actually! It was priceless indeed, I don't think Marat was a bad sport but it's just bias me!  The Madrid crowd likes to whistle and boo! |

well...guess what...95% shot and i got it wrong...
NO LIVE TELECAST OF THE FINAL FOR ME. gotta wait till monday for the delayed telecast. tmr's the delayed telecast of the semis. BAH!
cmon marat!!! u have to kick nalby ass!!!!!!! and show star sports what asses they are!!!! ;D

Ahhhhhh! He won!! I was watching the whole thing on live scoring and was really freaked out when he started to lose early in the tiebreak. Guess Marat really is a drama queen. |

Oh, certainly crowded here at the moment!! ;D ;D FIRST TO RUTH AND ALL THE OTHERS - I'M SOOOOOOOOO PROUD OF OUR MARAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL, OUR Marat! But he is a bit our right? AWESOME MATCH, JUST AWESOME MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! To those who didn't see the match and want the stats - 1st serve% Safin 53%, Agassi 50% Aces Safin 12, Agassi 5 DF both 2 Winners Safin 35, Agassi 17 UE Safin 28, Agassi 24 Match time 1 h 34. Lars Graff was the umpire and today Marat argued only once at the very beginning after his 2nd service game when he was denied an ace bc of net, Andre then even got a BP maybe, don't remember exactly but when Marat finally held he said to Graff that the mic at the net was too sensitive. Sorry I had to turn away just then so didn't hear everything but nothing serious. The crowd didn't whistle much today! Really, it was pretty OK today. And Marat was VEEEEEEEEEERY concentrated the whole match. Andre had total 4 BPs, couldn't convert any, Marat converted 1 of 7 (in the 1st set). The TB was super exciting but I kinda felt that our habibi would take it. He didn't even get distracted by the models. Funny moment - once he went to sit down and the girl didn't bring him his towel and he waved with his hand so sweetly - oh I love how he waves his hands!! Hopefully I'll get the Russian TV sports news video for you at some point. Then Ruth can see the 2 guys in his box whom I don't know. They've been there the whole week too. Peter and Walt were in the 1st row again, lol @ Peter not being tired of Walt yet! Gerard sits in another box behind the service line. Tiriac in the next box. They had a little chat at one moment. OK, got to go now. CONGRATS TO EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!! AND SOME MAJOR NAL-B BUTT-KICKING TOMORROW HOPEFULLY!!!!!!!! |

But I have a funny moment to share with U too: In the last games of the sec set Agassi tries a lob and Marat runs after it, but doesn't make it and kinda stumbles near the edge of the court.... then, when he gets up, he smells the flowers that are all around the arena....... Oh, and if you want to know abut the ballgirl hitting incident - the babe didn't cry, on the contrary - smiled after that - everything OK, Marat apologized OF COURSE!!!!!!!! Our gentleman!!!!! I don't think it is that funny the ballgirl got hit with the ball. I guess, this is because I was once hit by Marat accidently (I hope) during one of his matches in 2003. It hurt quite a bit and I had a bruise on my stomach forever. He is quite cute when he says "sorry" though. I wonder how many people Marat has ever hit playing tennis?

That's too bad....... I hope U weren't upset.... OF COURSE he didn't do it on purpose! ........... he has probably hit quite a lot of ballkids in his lifetime, I think all players do.......... sometimes, U really can't control where the ball goes, esp if it's a serve that isn't returned or just a ball U hit totally wrong (out of the court, I mean......) |

Thanks MariaV and Neo. I actually was not a ballkid, I was a spectator. I also was not mad, I was just startled. Anyway, back to the TMS Madrid topic before somebody tells we need to start a new topic. I am thrilled like all of you here that Marat won against Agassi. He just made my day. I hope he can make it to Houston.
